摘要： A shoe material is described which allows any waste as a result of cutting shoe reinforcing components from a sheet thereof to be recycled. The reinforcing material may be recycled by granulating, shredding or co-extruding the waste with a virgin composition of reinforcing material to create sheets of new reinforcing material. These sheets of reinforcing material including recycled waste from previous sheets can similarly be press cut to provide shoe reinforcing components. The reinforcing material includes a base component of either polycaprolactone or linear saturated polyester adhesive along with a copolyester adhesive and mineral filler to achieve necessary stiffness after thermoforming of the shoe reinforcing component, i.e. shoe counter or toe puff.

摘要： For use in designing irregular objects such as shoes, an element such as a shoe last (1) whose surface geometry has been digitised and stored and which can be thus displayed on a display screen (7) is provided with means (2) for generating an electromagnetic field which can be sensed by a tracking station (3) so that in response to variations in the position and orientation of the last (1) the displayed image (8) can be correspondingly varied. In addition a drawing tool (pen) (4) also has such field generating means (5) which again can be tracked by the tracking station (3) and an image (9) of which also can be displayed on the screen (7). By moving the pen (4) over the surface of the last (1) design lines (12) can be created on the image (8) displayed on the screen (7) and thus a shoe design can be created on the screen. If desired, components designed using the last (1) and pen (4) may alternatively or in addition be displayed as "flattened" two-dimensional images. In addition, selected areas may show colour, surface texture, thickness and other features.

摘要： To form a continuous length of flexible sheet material from which a tubular product may be produced a plurality of individual lengths (L1, L2) are secured together end to end. Adjacent ends of adjacent lengths are cut at an angle other than 90 DEG , preferably 30-60 DEG , more preferably 45 DEG , to the lengthwise dimension such that when the tube is formed a spiral-shaped joint is formed. The joint (J1, J2) may be stitched, bonded or welded, the latter being preferred where the sheet material is e.g. a non-woven fabric with a backer layer laminated to one side; in such case a strip of the same material as the backer may be applied to the lengthwise edges of the backer and be welded to it.

摘要： An insole construction is provided comprising a base layer (1) secured to a backer layer (5), the base layer (1) comprising a polypropylene core sandwiched between two impregnated non-woven fabrics. The backer layer (5) may have a similar construction and has a shape similar to the base layer (1) in a heel region of the insole. The backer layer (5) is adhered to the base layer (1) through pressure and heat. The backer layer (5) may be an extruded thermoplastic film sandwiched between layers of fusion-bonded non-woven fabric and having an impregnation of styrene copolymer. This insole construction allows formation of exceptionally stiff insoles in the necessary heel section of the insole without creating thermal distortion problems or lamination difficulties when a moulded outsole is attached.

摘要： A lining insole is disclosed which is washable and detachable from footwear. Thus, the insole may be refreshed by removal of sweat and other materials by a washing process without washing or drying the entire footwear with detrimental results. The lining insole comprises a resilient base layer to which is secured an absorbent layer with preferably an abrasive-resistant barrier layer applied on top of the absorbent layer. These layers are secured together by stitching at least around a peripheral border of the insole. The resilient base layer comprises an impregnated non-woven felt including a coarse-weave scrim to facilitate dimensional stability and stitch retention whilst the absorbent layer generally has a middle portion adapted to absorb and retain perspired sweat until the insole is washed. The lining insole may incorporate deodorant or other perfume to further enhance the freshness of the insole.

摘要： A drying apparatus and a method of operating a drying apparatus is described which is particularly suitable for water-based adhesive depositions upon shoes and/or shoe soles (201) during their manufacture. The apparatus and method essentially comprise two stages, in a first stage in a drying chamber (110) the shoe (201) is exposed to air flows directed upon a surface carrying the deposit and to infrared heat on its passage through the drying chamber (110) in order to tease solvent (water) from the deposit without creation of a surface skin or crust, in a second stage the deposit is heated by further infrared heater means in a post-drying station (116) after the drying chamber (110) and without air flows to leave the deposit in a tacky state. The drying chamber (110) means comprises a plurality of appropriately spaced infrared tubes (202) which can provide an approximate planar uniform infrared flux at a displaced distance above the carrier upon which the bodies (shoes) (201) are carried.

The graduated density felt (1) acts as a regulating or gate layer for the absorbent fibre layer (2) and so limits the rate that exudate from a wound that can pass to the absorbent fibre layer (2). Furthermore, the regulating layer (1) effectively spreads the exudate to give a conical transmission profile enhancing wound dressing performance.
