Abstract:
A method and system for automatically detecting liver lesions in medical image data, such as 3D CT images, is disclosed. A liver region is segmented in a 3D image. Liver lesion center candidates are detected in the segmented liver region. Lesion candidates are segmented corresponding to the liver lesion center candidates, and lesions are detected from the segmented lesion candidates using learning based verification.
Abstract:
A multimer protein molecule comprising at least a first amino acid sequence having substantially the sequence of one of the Parietaria judaica major allergens Par j 1 or Par j 2 and a second amino acid sequence having substantially the sequence of one of the Parietaria judaica major allergens Par j 1 or Par j 2, and a third sequence of one of the Parietaria judaica major allergens Par j 1 or Par j 2. The molecule is also mutated in the amino acid region corresponding to loop 1, so that is hypoallergenic. The molecule can be utilized for medical use as a hypoallergenic agent.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to new saponins for increasing the immune response in mammals and finds application in the field of immunology, supplying in particular new adjuvants, obtained by hemi-synthesis, starting from terpene sources. It also embraces the methods for the use of the new saponins as adjuvants to increase the immune response to an antigen in a mammal. The saponins of the present invention are suitable for veterinary and human pharmaceutical compositions which include one or more antigens, in particular those of synthetic origin, and one or more diluents, in pharmaceutically acceptable vehicles. These compositions can be used as immunopotenciators and/or immunomodulators in animals and human beings. The present invention further constitutes a vaccination method that includes the administration of one or more antigens and one or optionally more than one hemi-synthetic saponin of the invention.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to hypoallergenic variants of ns-LTPs allergens, to pharmaceutical compositions comprising them and to the use of such variants for the preparation of medicaments suitable in the treatment and in the prevention of the allergic forms associated with an ns-LTP allergen, in particular to the allergen corresponding to the variant used.

Abstract:
The invention relates to the production of mixed-metal-oxide inorganic pigments, using industrial waste as raw materials, comprising the following steps: (i) characterization and selection of wastes; (ii) their treatment, if required; (iii) formulation + dosing + mixing of components; (iv) drying + calcination; and (v) washing + milling. Selected wastes might be used in the as- received condition or after drying or calcination. The present invention deals with materials that are produced by colorants or pigments producers mainly for use in the ceramic sector, since formulations are stable at high temperatures and act as colorants of glazes or ceramic bodies. The use of high temperatures might also assure the desirable inertization of possible hazardous species.
Abstract:
The present invention identifies autoantibodies to folate receptors. Methods to identify these autoantibodies to the human folate receptors are also provided. The present invention also contemplates diagnostic methods and test kits to be used in a clinical setting for identifying a subject at risk of folate-sensitive abnormalities or disorders as observed in neural tube defect complicatedpregnancies. In addition, infertility, spontaneous abortion, male sterility, unsuccessful in vitro fertilization, neurologic disorders and impaired folate absorption may also be associated with these autoantibodiesto folate receptors.
Abstract:
The present invention describes a new process for the preparation of omeprazole, lansoprazole and pantoprazole of formula (XXI), (XXXIII), and which involves the formation of pyridines N-oxide using a rhenium compound as a catralyst, followed by nitration of the 4-position with nitric acid fuming in presence of a claycop. The chlorination of the 2-methyl group of pyridine was achieved by using the POCI 3 /Et 3 N, which allowed the preparation of the derivates 2-chloromethylpyridines in only one step. These derivates reacted with the mercaptobenzimidazolic derivatives in presence of ultra-sonic radiation, giving the thioethers. The oxidation of these thioethers was done with several oxidizing agents and the required anti-ulcer compounds were obtained after the substitution of nitro group by the corresponding OR groups.
