Abstract:
A display where water is applied onto the screen of a visual display monitor and graphics are presented on the display that coincides with the applied water is described. The timing of the water being applied to the screen and the playing of the graphics may be orchestrated such that the applied water seems to create the presented graphics. A controller may be used to control the water and the display.
Abstract:
A water display including a number of pixels or manifolds that may include water nozzles to emit streams of water and/or other utilities such as lighting is described. The water streams may be pixelated so as to provide a high resolution waveform or other choreography. The choreography transitions between waveforms to provide the appearance of a cascading or undulating wave. A tool to design the water display and simulate its appearance is also described.
Abstract:
Described herein are filter assemblies for removing high molecular weight organic components from liquefied petroleum gas, as well as methods for removing high molecular weight components from liquefied petroleum gases. The filter assemblies include an upstream carbon-containing filter media pack and a downstream filter media pack.
Abstract:
A system and method for removing and managing water in liquid hydrocarbons is disclosed. The system and method utilize a water absorbent filter, such as one that utilizes super absorbent polymers, cellulose, cotton or other suitable material to remove water from the system that is either present as free water or as dissolved moisture within the liquid hydrocarbon. The super absorbent polymer filter can be regenerated through the introduction of a dried liquid hydrocarbon, through the use of an air drying system, or a combination of both.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an optionally solid state electrical device comprising an electrolytically active material and a conductive polymer; a battery and integrated circuit comprising the device; and a method for its preparation.
Abstract:
The invention provides a valve which consists of a plurality of poppet valve. These valves are internally piloted and air operated in groups inside a valve housing to control the flow of fluid from a designated inlet port to a designated outlet port. This valve splits a single fluid circuit into two separate circuits to assist in cleaning of the circuit or mixing the fluids. The valve body consists of a single-piece common seat, seal and fluid passage.
Abstract:
A network access system (6) has a transfer layer (10) having a gateway agent (20) and interworking agent (21) which interface with short message service centres. Each agent (20, 21) comprises a table which cross-references the external short message service centres with short message entities to which they are connected to allow the agent to be addressable by these entities and to route messages between them and networks. The delivery agent (20) is connected to a gateway switching centre (22) and the interworking agent (21) is connected to an interworking switching centre (23). The switching centres are in a relay layer (11) and carry out lower-level operations in conjunction with the network layer (12).
Abstract:
There is currently no effective cure or treatment for neurodegenerative diseases associated with progranulin (PGRN) deficiency, such as frontotemporal dementia (FTD). FTD is a fast-progressing disease, with affected patients usually dying 2-5 years after clinical diagnosis, and is the leading cause of non-Alzheimer dementias. The present application relates to methods and uses for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases associated with PGRN deficiency such as FTD. Such methods and uses are based on the administration of agents that increase sphingolipid (SL) levels in neural cells from the subject, or of AchR and/or PKC inhibitors such as rottlerin, rivastigmine, or analogs or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
Abstract:
A display generally comprising a container that contains a source of combustion and a heat exchange assembly positioned above the source of combustion is disclosed. The heat exchange assembly is heated by the source of combustion and air passing through the assembly is heated and directed to the surrounding area around the display.
Abstract:
Techniques for a data storage device to locally implement security management functionality. In an embodiment, a security management process of the data storage device is to determine whether an access to non-volatile media of the data storage device is authorized. In certain embodiments, the data storage device is to restrict access to a secure region of the non- volatile storage media, the secure region to store information used and/or generated by a security management process of the data storage device.
