Abstract:
There is provided an orthodontic brush (1) for use by dental patients having braces. The brush (1) has a pair of wire brushes (4) elastically attached to a handle (2) and it is able to clean difficultly accessible areas of brackets, orthodontic wires and mounting elements. Due to the elasticity of the wire brushes (4) and the narrow gap between these the orthodontic brush (1) keeps a significant pressure against the brackets, tubes, and wires resulting in better removal of plaque. Moreover, the present brush (1) has the ability to go around the orthodontic wire, and in addition underneath the orthodontic wire.
Abstract:
An improved, removable and adjustable arch wire is presented, in particular a transpalatal arch wire (TPA) and a lower lingual arch wire (LLA). The TPA and the LLA comprises a heavy orthodontic wire, and double over ends which can be attached to sheaths (3) at the molar tubes. The wire has an extended loop (2a, 2b, 20a, 20b) immediately adjacent to the double over ends, which facilitates better fixation with a ligature wire. When the double over ends are attached to the sheaths (3), an aperture (1) is formed between the double over ends and the sheaths. In this situation, the ligature wire can be wound between the loop (2a, 2b, 20a, 20b) and the aperture (1).
Abstract:
A disposable cassette(1)is disclosed having an inlet port(4), an outlet port(5), and a heat exchanger element (3) with a fluid flow channel (9, 10, 15, 29) defined therein, the element being configured for conductive heat transfer between an exterior source and liquid in the fluid flow channel through at least one wall member of the heat exchanger element. The average cross sectional area of the outlet part of the fluid flow channel is substantially smaller than the average cross sectional area of the inlet part of the fluid flow channel. Furthermore is disclosed an assembly for connecting a source of intravenous fluid to a patient, the assembly comprising a sealed sterile packaging enclosing the disposable cassette, a first tube for connecting said source of intravenous fluid to the inlet port of the disposable cassette, and a second tube for connecting the outlet port of the disposable cassette to an intravenous catheter.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a tube pump comprising a tube and a pump element inserted in the tube, where the pump element comprises a rod element and a first and a second non-return valve member positioned a distance apart on the rod element. The valve members are oriented in the same direction relative to the rod element so as to allow for a fluid flow in the tube through the first valve member, along the rod element, and through the second valve member. The tube comprises an at least partly flexible tube portion between the valve members such that a repeated deformation of the flexible tube portion acts to alternately close and open the valve members thereby generating a fluid flow through the tube. The invention further relates to a pump element comprising at least two non-return valve members connected by a rod element, and for insertion in an at least partly flexible tube in such tube pump as mentioned above, thereby acting to generate a fluid flow through the tube upon repeated deformation of the tube between the two valve members. The pump element may comprise a connecting part for coupling to another tube and may comprise a sealing part establishing a fluid tight connection to a part of the tube. The invention further relates to a method for creating a flow of a fluid within an at least partly flexible tube by means of a pump element as mentioned above.
Abstract:
A cushion (1 ) includes a flexible cover (2) defining a chamber (15). A water-absorbing material (3) is placed inside the chamber, upon absorption of water said water- absorbing material is suitable for heating by means of microwaves. The cover (2) has a sealable feeding mouth (4) so that water may be poured into the chamber (15).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an arrangement (1) for a bowling simulator (2) comprising a bowling lane (3), a lane approach (4), a ball stop system (5), a pin pit (9), a lateral gutter (6) and a ball return system. In accordance with the invention, a projection screen (8), for example in the form of a TV screen, is arranged in front of the pin pit (9) and above the bowling lane (3). A projector (11) or some other similar image display apparatus is so arranged as to display intended images (12) on the aforementioned projection screen. Sensors (13-15) are provided along the bowling lane and are so arranged as to sense the direction of impact, speed and force of the bowling ball, and a computer unit (17) is connected to the aforementioned projector (11) and sensors (13-15) for the purpose of calculating the onward travel of the ball towards the pins. A realistic image (12) of the pins as they are knocked over the ball (16) is then projected onto the projection screen (8).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the identification of CTL epitopes by the combination of biochemical assays, statistical matrix calculations, and artificial neural networks. A set of peptide libraries are used to generate complete unbiased matrices representing peptide-MHC interactions used to generate a primary prediction of MHC binding for all possible non-redundant peptides. The best binders are subject to a quantitative biochemical binding assay and subsequently a computerised artificial neural network prediction program built from these in vitro experimental MHC-I binding data. The method further comprises improving the identified epitope by replacing amino acids, and testing the identified CTL epitopes in in vitro and in vivo models. Thus, one aspect of the invention relates to the identification of a CTL component of a vaccine and the development of said CTL component. Another aspect of the invention relates to the identified epitopes of said CTL component.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to therapeutically active heterocyclic compounds, to methods for their preparation and to pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compounds. The novel compounds are useful in treating diseases in the central nervous system related to malfunctioning of the nicotinic cholinergic system.
Abstract:
A method of continuously determining the parameters of a fluid, such as the dry-matter percentage in slurry or another industrial product, and whereby said fluid is subjected to a measuring system comprising a radiation source (2) and a radiation detector (3) placed opposite one another, the measuring signals being processed in an evaluation circuit, whereafter the results of the evaluation are displayed on display means (25). The radiation source (2) and the radiation detector (3) are mounted on a forked support immersible in the fluid in question, the source (2) and the detector (3) being subjected to a rinsing simultaneously with the measuring signal being calibrated.
Abstract:
An apparatus for measuring the retroreflectivity of a surface. The apparatus comprises a light source for illuminating an area of said surface at an incident angle relative to the surface; a detector for detecting light reflected back from the surface at an observation angle relative to the surface; a signal processing unit adapted to receive a detector signal from the detector and to determine, from at least the received detector signal, a measure of retro reflectivity of the surface; a range finder for measuring a distance between the apparatus and the illuminated area. The signal processing unit is further adapted to adjust the measure of retroreflectivity responsive to the measured distance.
