Abstract: A safe of the swing and slide type has a closing style (4) which has a landing surface (154) for the safe door (16) and a pocket (164) for housing the closing edge of the door. That edge (150) is outwardly turned to prevent the insertion of a pry bar between the door (16) and the hook (152) of the closing style. The pocket has a ramp face (162) which guides the closing edge of the door during the slide open and slide closed phases. In different variants, a ramp face (168) is provided on the door also; a second ramp face (166) is provided on the hook of the closing style; a door seat (172) is incorporated into ramp (162).

Abstract: This security door construction is applicable to safes, factory doors and house doors. An offset hinge assembly allows the door to swing open and closed and also to slide in and out of a door slot in the door frame at the closing edge of the door. In the construction of a safe, hooks on the inside of the door enter slots in upstands inside the safe and engage and disengage through the sliding motion. House doors and screen doors use a hinge assembly which operates in the same way as the safe. One pair of hinges are fixed to the frame and the second pair of hinges are fixed to the door. The frame and door pairs are connected by a rod or tube which ensures that the hinge axis of the door pair remains parallel to the hinge axis of the frame pair. A door locking mechanism is actuated by a conventional pneumatic door closer. A gas strut supplies the thrust to cause the mechanism to slide the door into the door slot when the door closer brings the door into register with the door slot.

Abstract: A safe construction of the swing and slide type having a door swing style and a door closing style which defines both the door slot and a landing surface against which the door edge closes, a door with a hooked closing edge, wherein between the landing surface and the end of the slot there is a gap bridged by a displaceable member over which the hooked closing edge slides freely during opening and closing but when the door edge is forced inwardly toward the interior of the safe by prying, the hooked closing edge displaces the displaceable member inwardly to a resistant position in which the hooked closing edge and the closing style mutually obstruct thereby preventing the door from sliding out of the slot. In a preferred version the displaceable member is spring biassed to recover its position.

Abstract: A security door has a door frame with an opening style and an opposing closing style, a door with an inside face and an outside face mounted on offset hinges supported by the frame so as to permit swing and slide motion. The closing style (4) has a vertical row of slots and a multiple hooked locking member (110) mounted on the inside of the door is lifted by the handle (52) which opens and closes the door, in order to drop the hooks into the slots(l 12) when the door is closed. Abstract: A safe body of the type having internal hinges (24) housed inside the safe behind the door (16), has its door supported on an axial hinge rod (30).
