Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf einen Mehrschichtaufbau mit einem einseitig oder durchgehend in eine Temperierfluidkanalschicht (1) eingebrachten Temperierfluidkanal (2). Erfindungsgemäß ist eine Mehrlagen-Kanalabdeckung (3a, 7, 8) vorgesehen, die den Temperierfluidkanal auf einer zu einer Hauptseite der Temperierfluidkanalschicht hin offenen Kanalseite nach außen und in lateraler Richtung fluidimpermeabel abschließt. Zusätzlich oder alternativ ist eine von einer Hauptseite des Mehrschichtaufbaus her bis zum Temperierfluidkanal reichende Anschlussöffnung vorgesehen, die dafür eingerichtet ist, einen Anschlussstutzen aufzunehmen und diesen am Öffnungsrandbereich fluiddicht zu halten, wobei die eine oder mehreren angrenzenden Schichtlagen wenigstens in einem dem Temperierfluidkanal zugewandten Teilbereich bis zur fluiddichten Verbindungsstelle für den Anschlussstutzen aus einem fluidimpermeablen Material bestehen oder damit bedeckt oder durch ein solches lateral begrenzt sind. A transgenic plant transformed by a Dof transcription factor, OBP3, coding nucleic acid, wherein expression of the nucleic acid sequence in the plant results in an alteration in the size of the resulting plant as compared to a corresponding wild-type variety of plant. Also provided are agricultural products, including seeds, produced by the transgenic plants. Further provided are isolated OBP3's, isolated nucleic acid coding OBP3's, and vectors and host cells containing the latter.

Provided are methods for generating modified plants, seedlings or seeds, comprising introducing into, or engineering in a plant cell, a nucleic acid encoding a mutant AHL protein having a mutation of the AT hook domain that confers a dominant negative phenotype as disclosed herein. Nucleic acids encoding a polypeptide comprising SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:6, a polypeptide having at least 93% or at least 95% sequence identity with SEQ ID NO:3, or a polypeptide having at least 75% or at least 80% sequence identity with SEQ ID NO:6 are provided, along with such polypeptides having a mutation of the AT hook domain that confers a dominant negative phenotype as disclosed herein. In particular aspects, the polypeptide lacks the AT hook domain thereof. In certain aspects, the polypeptide comprises an intact or functional PPC domain, and preferably additionally comprises the linker region between the PPC domain and the AT-hook domain.

The invention relates to a multilayer structure with a temperature control fluid channel (2), which is provided inside a temperature control fluid channel layer (1) on one side thereof or while passing therethrough. According to the invention, a multilayer channel covering (3a, 7, 8) is provided that, on a channel side that is open toward the main side of the temperature control fluid channel layer, seals the temperature control fluid channel from the outside and in a lateral direction in a fluid-impermeable manner. In addition or alternatively, a connection opening starting from a main side of the multilayer structure and extending up to the temperature control fluid channel is provided that serves to receive a connecting piece and hold this connecting piece on the opening edge area in a fluid-tight manner. The one or more adjacent layers, at least in one partial area facing the temperature control fluid channel and extending up to the fluid-tight junction for the connecting piece, is/are made of a fluid-impermeable material, covered therewith or is/are laterally delimited by such a material.

The present invention provides cytochrome P450s useful for producing genetically modified plants characterized as having the phenotypic trait of modulated brassinolide synthesis of signaling, for example, resulting in insect resistance, dwarfism and darker-green foliage compared with wild type plants. Such plants can be modified, for example, using "bas1", or functional homologues thereof, a polypeptide encoded by bas1 that modulates brassinolide synthesis and/or signaling in plants. The invention also provides methods for modulating ecdysteroid activity in a plant and for assaying brassinosteroid function in a plant. The latter method can be used to create a gain-of-function allelic series of plants characterized by increasing levels of overexpression of a cytochrome P450 to screen for brassinolide activity in plant species.

A sidetracking system has a pair of serially connected mills (8, 9), each having a plurality of circumferentially arranged blades having a tapered cutting portion (82, 93) thereon for cutting a window in a casing and then sidetracking in a formation. A whipstock has at least three axially spaced ramps, each ramp being interspaced by a substantially axially extending portion. Each of the ramps has the same angle of inclination to a longitudinal axis and the distance between the ramps is the same as the distance between the tapered portions on the mills (8, 9) so that when, in operation, load is shared between both mills. The mills have a button (83, 93) of hardened material located on the tapered cutting portions so that the button abrades the whipstock ramps (31, 32, 33).
