Abstract:
A system and method of quantifying uptake of radionuclide by tumor with the use of an MBI system equipped with an ultrasound unit. The quantification is effectuated based on comparison a first photon count (determined from an MBI image of a region of interest encompassing both the tumor and background tissue of the sample) and a second photon count (determined from an MBI image of a region of a substantially co-extensive region of interest that encompasses only background tissue and is devoid of tumor), and based on the values of depth of tumor and its size determined from the ultrasound imaging data.

Abstract:
A craps game apparatus includes a craps game layout and dice for generating a plurality of dice role outcomes, wherein each dice role outcome yields an integer number from 2 through 12. The craps game layout has a pass line wagering area for receiving a bet on a pass outcome. The pass outcome occurs when a dice roll outcome yields an established point number before an outcome of 7. A bonus betting location is provided for receiving a bet on a bonus outcome based on a sequence of the dice roll outcomes. The bonus outcome occurs when the sequence of dice roll outcomes includes a predetermined number of consecutive pass outcomes before a bonus bet termination event, such as a seven out or a crap out.

Abstract:
A communication system for accessing media items via a display device. A receiver is coupled to the display device and a transmitter is coupled to a computer system. Media items stored locally on the computer system and/or remotely on a remote server may be wirelessly transferred from the transmitter to the receiver for display on the display device. In addition, the transmitter and the receiver may be pre-paired prior to delivery to the user, allowing for the network to be configured without any user input. Advantageously, embodiments provide a user with the ability to conveniently view content stored on a computer or a web server without the user having to perform any wireless network setup procedures.
Abstract:
A system and method for performing quantitative lesion analysis in molecular breast imaging (MBI) using the opposing images of a slightly compressed breast that are obtained from the dual-head gamma camera. The method uses the shape of the pixel intensity profiles through each tumor to determine tumor diameter. Also, the method uses a thickness of the compressed breast and the attenuation of gamma rays in soft tissue to determine the depth of the tumor from the collimator face of the detector head. Further still, the method uses the measured tumor diameter and measurements of counts in the tumor and background breast region to determine relative radiotracer uptake or tumor-to-background ratio (T/B ratio).
Abstract:

The system and method also enable the interior design of the room in which the display will be situated based on the above factors and other factors.
Abstract:
A portable communications device (1) for wearing by a person and for use in conjunction with a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone (3) for communicating a signal indicative of the existence of an emergency to a base station comprises a pendant shaped housing (5) within which is located a first interface circuit (12) which comprises a pair of activating switches (14) operable by panic buttons (15) for facilitating inputting a signal to the device (1) indicative of the existence of an emergency. A microprocessor (18) reads signals from the first interface circuit (12) and reads the last determined position of the device from a GPS positioning circuit (8) in the housing (5), and also reads the identity of the device (1), a phone number of the base station to which a message indicative of the emergency is to be communicated and a message indicative of the emergency from a programmable memory (10). The microprocessor (18) prepares an activating signal which comprises the identity and position of the device (1), the phone number of the base station and the message, which is transmitted with a time label through a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver (20) to the mobile phone (3). The activating signal activates the mobile phone (3) to relay the data contained in the activating signal to the base station.
Abstract:
A low-cost, solid-state position sensor system suitable for making precise code and carrier phase measurements in the L1 and L2 bands of GPS uses an ordinary, low-cost OEM card single-frequency carrier phase tracking C/A code receiver and includes low-cost hardware for sensing the L1 and L2 components of GPS carrier phase. Such measurements are suitable for general use in a variety of fields, including surveying. They are also of sufficient quality to be used in controlling heavy machinery, such as aircraft, farm tractors, and construction and mining equipment. A C/A code continuous tracking GPS receiver is used to produce GPS positioning fixes and real-time L1 carrier phase measurements. This C/A code receiver generates timing and reference information for a digital sampling component. This sampling component processes the L1 and L2 signals from the GPS signals in view. A digital signal processing component coupled to this sampling component processes the raw samples in synchronous, batch form including a step to precisely unwrap the P(Y) carrier phase to baseband. The receiver outputs synchronous, carrier phase measurements associated with each ranging source and signal observable. The synchronous raw carrier phase measurements from the continuous tracking C/A code receiver and the digital sampling component may be used to resolve the cycle ambiguities to each ranging source with respect to a reference station at a known location. Within a short interval typically tens of seconds from initial turn on, continuous, synchronous raw measurements are provided by the GPS receiver and processed into precise position fixes.
Abstract:
A method of detecting transmissible spongiform encephalopathies is described which involves (a) treating a sample of tissue, blood or a blood derivative from a test subject with alcohol and a detergent, (b) adding an agent which degrades normal prion protein (c) adding an agent which denatures abnormal prion protein, (d) adding a prion-specific antibody and (e) detecting binding of the antibody to the sample. Also described is a method of fixing abnormal prion protein to a substrate comprising (a) treating the protein or a sample suspected to contain the abnormal prion protein with alcohol and an anionic detergent and (b) adding a protease, in the presence of the substrate.
