    摘要: Embodiments of the invention relate to vertical field effect transistor that is a light emitting transistor. The light emitting transistor incorporates a gate electrode for providing a gate field, a first electrode comprising a dilute nanotube network for injecting a charge, a second electrode for injecting a complementary charge, and an electroluminescent semiconductor layer disposed intermediate the nanotube network and the electron injecting layer. The charge injection is modulated by the gate field. The holes and electrons, combine to form photons, thereby causing the electroluminescent semiconductor layer to emit visible light. In other embodiments of the invention a vertical field effect transistor that employs an electrode comprising a conductive material with a low density of states such that the transistors contact barrier modulation comprises barrier height lowering of the Schottky contact between the electrode with a low density of states and the adjacent semiconductor by a Fermi level shift.

    摘要: A method to prepare halogen end-capped polypyrroles, polyfurans or copolymeric pyrroles and furans is presented that readily occurs in a liquid state as well as a solid state without the need of a catalyst from a dihalopyrrole monomer, dihalofuran monomer, or a mixture of monomers. The polymerization mixture can be modified to include a monohalo-monomer for the introduction of a specific end-group or a polyhalo-monomer to form a branched polymer or network. An initiating species can be included in the polymerization mixture to avoid an induction period or to commence the polymerization process on demand. The electroactive polymers can be formed as a bulk material, a coating, or as a film.

    摘要: A method for preparing a defunctionalized alkylenedioxyheterocycle polymer or copolymer involves providing a polycarboxylic acid derivative functionalizcd alkylenedioxyheterocycle polymer or copolymer and transforming the polymer or copolymer into a defunctionalized alkylenedioxyheterocycle polymer or copolymer which is a polyhydroxy, polythiol, polyamino, or polycarboxylic acid functionalizcd alkylenedioxyheterocycle polymer or copolymer. The monomers, homopolymers and copolymers for use in the method are new compositions of matter. The polymers containg polycarboxylic acid derivative functionalized alkylenedioxyheterocycle units are soluble polymers which are defunctionalized to yield insoluble polyhydroxy, polythiol, polyamino, or polycarboxylic acid functionalized alkylenedioxyheterocycle polymers. These polymers can be cast as films for use as: hole transport layers in organic light emitting diodes; active electrochrome in electrochromic windows, mirrors and displays; field effect transistors, supercapacitors, batteries, photovoltaic cells, and other electronic components; electronic paper; anti-stat conductors; and transparent conductors.
