Abstract:
A method for identifying at least one person within the vicinity of capture of a content item, e.g. an image, regardless of whether or not that person is captured by the content item. This is achieved by collating unique identifiers, such as bluetooth identifiers, for identifying those persons within the vicinity of the location when the image is captured, steps 205-209. The unique identifiers (or information derived there from) are included in the metadata stored with the content item, step 211, for later retrieval and/or browsing.
Abstract:
An apparatus for recording a signal having a signal content, where the apparatus comprises a receiver for receiving the signal, a processor configured to determine rights to the signal content received with the received signal, and a recorder for recording the received signal and a signal representing the determined rights to the signal content, wherein the processor is configured to give, to right holders, individual rights to the content respecting the determined rights to the content. A user who receives the signal can give individual rights to right holders respecting the rights to the content. The given rights comprise full rights and restricted rights such as owner rights corresponding to the rights to the content received with the received signal, and user rights that allow the right holder to use, such as view, the signal content. Use of the individual rights requires a corresponding individual key.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for enabling to browse a plurality of stored images in which a plurality of the images (101) are displayed. Each image has at least one label (103) associated therewith. Each label comprises at least one attribute and an associated value. A representation of the label is provided. At least one attribute can be selected and at least a further one of the images having the same value as that of the selected attribute is retrieved.
Abstract:
A trick play signal is derived from a stored, and typically encrypted video stream. The video stream comprises data representing a series of I frames and P or B frames encoded at a variable bit rate, the I-frames being decodable independent of any other frame, decoding of the P or B frames requiring reference to other frames. Selected segments of data are retrieved from the video stream. Each segment corresponds to a part of data from the stream with a selected length. Distances between successive retrieved segments are selected dependent on a trick play speed. A trick play video signal is generated that comprises an earliest first frame from each respective segment. Stream specific properties of the stream are determined that are indicative of a rate at which the I-frames occur in the stream. The selected length for use in said selective retrieving is computed from the properties that have been determined, so that on the basis of the properties the segments of said selected length are predicted to include data representing at least one whole first frame at least on average.
Abstract:
A storage device 500 includes an input 405 for receiving a digital video stream complying with a predetermined video encoding standard via a digital video communication system. The stream includes a sequence of digital video frames, a sequence of program clock reference stamps (PCR) and a sequence of video presentation time stamps (PTS). A time-base modifier 510 replaces the PTS's by respective modified video presentation time stamps (M-PTS) based on a constant predetermined frame time between successive presentation time stamps and replaces the PCR's by respective modified program clock reference stamps (M-PCR) by scaling the PCR's using a scaling factor that depends on a ratio of an expected time between a video presentation time stamp j and a preceding video presentation time stamp j-n and an actual time between the video presentation time stamp j and the preceding video presentation time stamp j-n , where j≥n>0 . The expected time is n times the predetermined frame time.
Abstract:
A secure device capable of selectively enabling decryption of units of information is used to provide access to a stream of units of encrypted information. Each unit is linked to a time-stamp. An entitlement management message entitles the secure device to enable decryption of units of information that are linked to time-stamps with values in a specified range. The range has a starting point substantially prior to a current time value of the time stamps distributed concurrent the entitlement message. In an embodiment the stream is distributed to a plurality of subscribers, each with an own secure device. The distance of the starting point to the current time value for each subscriber is selected dependent on subscription information for the subscriber.
Abstract:
A method and device for making pre-scheduled recordings of broadcasted content in a recording device, comprising receiving (step S2) a scheduled recording request with a privacy setting from an authenticated user, determining (step S3) that said requested scheduled recording conflicts with a previously scheduled recording, communicating (step S5) a request to a remote receiver to record content according to the scheduled recording that is found to be in conflict with previously scheduled recordings, receiving (step S6) said recorded content from said remote receiver, storing said recorded content, and controlling access to the stored content based on said privacy setting. According to the invention, a network of recording devices are used to avoid conflicts. Instead of dealing with increased security and privacy of recording schedules when a conflict arises on a device, the present invention aims at making more recording resources available, thus reducing the risk for a conflict.
Abstract:
A method and system for ownership transfer of digital content, in a secure system using digital rights management (DRM) to handle user access to stored content, comprising receiving instructions from a first user being a current owner of a piece of content to transfer ownership of said piece of content to a second user, granting said second user an ownership takeover right to said piece of content, said ownership takeover right only being grantable by a current owner, receiving an accept from said second user, and identifying said second user as new current owner of said piece of content. According to this solution, the transfer of the ownership can be handled at the level of digital rights management, by introducing new rights (e.g. an "Ownership Takeover" right). This moves the ownership transfer protocol from the device specific implementations to the DRM specific implementations, which allows transfer of ownership between interoperable DRM systems.
Abstract:
An apparatus processes a video stream signal. The video stream signal represents a succession of frames, comprising a plurality of dependent frames that each provide for prediction of visual content using selectable ones of a preceding and following anchor frame that precede and follow the plurality of frames respectively. When a shortage of transmission bandwidth occurs, the apparatus generates a processed version of the video stream signal wherein a bit-rate alteration is performed starting from one of the dependent frames before an end of said plurality. Said alteration is executed by substituting a standard prediction from the following anchor frame at least for data in the video stream signal that encodes a region in said one of the dependent frames. The bit rate alteration is accompanied by a switch to a mode in which the processing circuit substitutes a standard prediction from the following anchor frame in all following dependent frames that follow said one of the dependent frames until the following anchor frame, for data in the video stream signal that encodes the region in said following dependent frames. In an embodiment interlacing is killed for the replaced regions.
Abstract:
A device (6000) and method is disclosed for processing a data stream comprising a plurality of frames. Further, a program element and a computer-readable medium are disclosed enabling the disclosed method. The device comprises a detection unit (6001) for detecting the switch from a first reproduction mode to a second reproduction mode, a determination unit (6003) for determining a first anchor frame in the plurality of frames and an insertion unit (6004) for inserting the first anchor frame and a succession of empty predictive frames subsequent to the first anchor frame. The device operates in a manner that improves the compliance of a processed data stream for further transmission to a remote decoder arrangement that is capable of decoding a standardized signal.
