Abstract: The olefins are obtained by catalytic fractionation of methanol. The fractionated methanol gas is cooled, purified, optionally compressed and, after separation of a C3+ fraction, it is conveyed to a low temperature decomposition stage, during which a C1/2 separation and a decomposition of C2 fraction are effected in an ethane and ethylene stream. Special conditions for the treatment of fractionated gas are disclosed in particular.
