An eductor has a motive inlet, a suction inlet, and a discharge outlet. The separated liquid component is introduced into the suction inlet of the eductor. A high- pressure gas stream is introduced into the motive inlet of the eductor. The high-pressure gas stream has a pressure sufficient to draw the separated liquid component from the knock-out drum and through the discharge outlet.

A portion of the C2 bottoms stream (620) comprising ethane is conditioned, wherein expanding the portion (630) of the C2 bottoms stream (620) to form an expanded portion (710), and wherein removing a gaseous C2 stream (810) from the expanded portion (710) to provide a conditioned ethane stream (820). The conditioned ethane stream (820) is in the liquid state and at a pressure in the range of from about 1 to 2 bar, and at least 95 mol% thereof consists of ethane.

Process for the production of liquefied impure ethylene LIE from a gas mixture GM which contains ethylene in a quantity of less than 99.80 % by volume and other constituents among which at least one lower boiling gas BG, according to which: 1. the gas mixture GM and the recycled gas stream RG issued from step 9 of the process are mixed and compressed, either independently before being mixed and/or together after being mixed, in order to obtain a compressed gas mixture CGM; 2. the said compressed gas mixture CGM is cooled down and at least partially condensed in order to obtain a cooled compressed liquefied mixture LP; 3. the pressure of the cooled compressed liquefied mixture LP issued from step 2, optionally previously submitted to a purge in order to withdraw purged gases PG thereof as recited in step 4, is reduced by a first adiabatic expansion whereby a first liquid phase LP1 and a first gaseous phase GP1 are formed; 4. either the first gaseous phase GP1 formed in step 3 and/or the cooled compressed liquefied mixture LP formed in step 2 is submitted to a purge in order to withdraw purged gases PG thereof; 5. the withdrawn purged gases PG are optionally at least partially condensed in order to recover, on one part, a liquid REC mainly constituted of ethylene and, on the other part, a gas phase mainly constituted of the at least one lower boiling gas BG; 6. optionally the liquid REC recovered in step 5 is returned back : - either to the cooled compressed liquefied mixture LP formed in step 2 in the case LP is submitted to a purge in order to withdraw purged gases PG thereof; - and/or to the first liquid phase LP1 formed in step 3 in the case the first gaseous phase GP1 formed in step 3 is submitted to a purge in order to withdraw purged gases PG thereof; 7. the pressure of the first liquid phase LPl formed in step 3, to which the liquid REC is optionally returned back in the case the first gaseous phase GP1 is submitted to a purge in order to withdraw purged gases PG thereof, is reduced by a second adiabatic expansion, whereby a second liquid phase LP2, mainly constituted of liquefied ethylene, and a second gaseous phase GP2 are formed; 8. the second liquid phase LP2 mainly constituted of liquefied ethylene formed in step 7 is collected as the produced liquefied impure ethylene LIE in a storage device in which optional boil-off gases BOFF are generated; 9. the second gaseous phase GP2 formed in step 7, the optional boil-off gases BOFF and the first gaseous phase GP1 are mixed and optionally compressed before being mixed all three, in order to obtain a recycled gas stream RG sent back to step 1.

Disclosed herein are processes for producing and separating ethane and ethylene. In some embodiments, an oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) product gas comprising ethane and ethylene is introduced to a separation unit comprising two separators. Within the separation unit, the OCM product gas is separated to provide a C2-rich effluent, a methane-rich effluent, and a nitrogen-rich effluent. Advantageously, in some embodiments the separation is achieved with little or no external refrigeration requirement.

A method for the recovery of ethylene from an off-gas is provided. This method includes providing an ethylene containing feed gas stream, introducing the ethylene containing gas stream into a first cryogenic separation device, thereby producing a first condensed stream and a first ethylene poor stream, and introducing the ethylene poor stream into a first feed compressor, thereby producing a pressurized first ethylene poor stream. This is repeated three times, resulting in a pressurized third ethylene poor stream, which is introduced into a pressure swing adsorber, thereby producing a high purity hydrogen stream and a PSA tail gas stream. The PSA tail gas stream is into a PSA tail gas compressor, thereby producing a pressurized PSA tail gas stream, which is then combined with an ethylene containing gas stream to produce the ethylene containing feed gas stream. The first condensed stream, the second condensed stream and the third condensed stream are combined to produce a combined condensed stream, which is introduced into an ethylene separation column thereby producing an ethylene rich stream and a methane rich stream. The methane rich stream is introduced into a methane compressor thereby producing a methane fuel stream.

Provided are systems and methods for separating a purge gas recovered from a polyethylene product. The method includes recovering a polyethylene product containing one or more volatile hydrocarbons from a polymerization reactor and contacting the polyethylene product with a purge gas to remove at least a portion of the volatile hydrocarbons to produce a polymer product having a reduced concentration of volatile hydrocarbons and a purge gas product enriched in volatile hydrocarbons. The purge gas product is compressed to a pressure of 2,500 kPaa to 10,000 kPaa, and is then cooled and separated into at least a first product, a second product, and a third product. A portion of one or more of the first, second, or third products is then recycled as a purge gas, to the polymerization reactor, or to the purge gas product enriched in volatile hydrocarbons prior to compression, respectively.

The methods and systems may include the recovery of an olefin monomer from a polymerization vent gas using ethylene refrigeration to condense and recover the olefin monomers from the vent gas. In some embodiments, the methods and systems may also include compression and condensation of polymerization vent gas, recompression of ethylene refrigerant, and use of an expander compressor turbine device for ethylene refrigeration.
