Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to films having at least a first profiled layer and a second layer having an inverse profile of the first layer. Those films can be used as protection tapes for various surfaces. Exemplary uses of the films of the present disclosure include leading edge protection tapes for rotor blades.

Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to compressible, multilayer articles useful in force sensing capacitors. The compressible multilayer articles include a silicone polymer layer having a first major surface and a second major surface and a first primer layer having a first major surface and a second major surface, wherein the thickness of the first primer layer is from about 100 nanometers to about 100 microns and at least a portion of the first major surface of the first primer layer is adhered to and in contact with the first major surface of the silicone polymer. The multilayer articles may include at least one of a first electrode and second primer layer. Methods of making the compressible, multilayer articles are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides lamination transfer films and use of the lamination transfer films, particular in the fabrication of architectural glass elements, such as those used in Insulated Glass Units (IGUs). The lamination transfer films may be used to transfer functional layers and structures. The lamination transfer films may include a support film that can be removed during the transfer process, and the transferred materials are primarily inorganic. The resulting transferred structures on glass generally have high photo- and thermal-stability, and therefore can successfully be applied to the glass surfaces that are interior to the cavity within an IGU. The lamination transfer films can also be patterned such that macroscopic patterns of microoptical elements can be applied on a glass surface.
Abstract:
A printer for digital printing in which ink is deposited in metered amounts on a substrate. The printer includes a wheel rotatable by a shaft of a motor, an idler disposed in a paint reservoir, and a segment of wire disposed around the wheel and the idler. A computer controls movement of the wire by controlling the rotation of the wheel. As the motor rotates the wheel, ink contained within the paint reservoir coats the wire and is drawn by the wire in front of an air stream, which pulls the ink from the wire and carries it toward the substrate. The wire has alternatively hydrophilic and hydrophobic areas, causing the ink to form droplets on the wire for printing them as discrete pixels onto the substrate.
Abstract:
A method of making a compressible multilayer article includes a multilayer elastomeric laminate film article with a first adhesive tie layer on a first major surface of a first release liner; an elastomeric core layer including a cured silicone polymer onto a surface of the first adhesive tie layer; a second adhesive tie layer on a first major surface of the elastomeric core layer; and a second release liner on a major surface of the second adhesive tie layer. A selected portion of each of the second release liner, the second adhesive tie layer, the elastomeric core layer, and the first adhesive tie layer is separated from the multilayer elastomeric laminate film article to form a patterned multilayer elastomeric film article including an array compressible structures attached to the first release liner, and an array of chaff regions attached to the first release liner and interspersed between the compressible structures.
Abstract:
A lamination transfer film includes multiple discrete rows of an elastomeric material with spaces separating adjacent rows. A peelable liner disposed over the rows and in the spaces between the adjacent rows, wherein the peelable liner is not substantially adhered to the elastomeric material.
Abstract:
