The present disclosure relates to a method of promoting optimal stretching of stretch film during a wrapping operation, which method comprises at least the following steps. First a resin suitable for making stretch films is selected. Then a dispersed agent is selected, preferably one which has a refractive index similar to the selected resin such that when a film is made comprising the resin and the dispersed agent, the film will appear somewhat clear. The dispersed agent is then mixed with the resin and a film is formed from the resin containing the dispersed agent. Finally, a load is manually wrapped using such film, wherein during wrapping, the film is stretched to a level where the film becomes more opaque.

The present disclosure relates to films having at least a first profiled layer and a second layer having an inverse profile of the first layer. Those films can be used as protection tapes for various surfaces. Exemplary uses of the films of the present disclosure include leading edge protection tapes for rotor blades.

A processing system for producing starch based expanded products useful as packing material for shipping, packaging and insulating applications. Generally, two processing steps for forming materials are involved. In a first step, dense pellets or granules are formed from starch and a plasticizing agent, such as a plasticizing polymer, for example, polyvinyl alcohol. The starch in the pellets is generally formed, for example with an extruder, into a thermoplastic or thermosetting form for further processing. The pellets generally have an individual density of at least about 70 lbs/cubic foot and a small size for convenient delivery for the second processing step. The second process step is based on the expanding of the material from an extruder with water as the expansion agent in which the dwell time in the extruder is short. The process is designed such that a less expensive single screw extruder is suitable for extruding the expanded material. The starch based pellets are convenient for shipping closer to the end use location.

The present technology is directed towards a composition comprising a polyorganosiloxane and polyolefin blend. The composition may be included in the manufacture of extruded products, including those that have been oriented in the primarily in the machine direction. The extruded products include improved mechanical characteristics relative to the same compositions without the polyorganosiloxanes. These extruded products may include fibers, tapes, and extruded films for use in various construction and agricultural products.
