Abstract:
A system for a chemically bonded ceramic material (CBC), comprising a composite biomaterial for preferably dental and/or orthopaedic applications. The CBC-system includes a binding (chemical cement) and inert phases with specified geometry provid-ing the biomaterial defect tolerance through an improved fracture toughness. The in-vention also relates to the powdered materials and the hydration liquid, respectively, as well as the formed ceramic material.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a coated implant for in vivo-anchoring of implants to a biological tissue or another implant, which coated implant comprises an implant having a pre-treated surface and on said pre-treated surface one or more layers of ceramic material chemically and/or mechanically bound to said pre-treated surface. Said one or more layers comprises mainly non-hydrated chemically bonded ceramic material, and each layer independently comprises a first binder phase selected from the group consisting of aluminates, silicates, phosphates, sulphates and combinations thereof. The invention further relates to method of manufacturing said coated implant, a ceramic paste and to a kit comprising said coated implant and ceramic paste. The invention is particularly suitable for dental and orthopaedic implants.
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to chemically bonded ceramic biomaterials, preferably a dental material or an implant material, comprising two binder systems. The main binder system forms a chemically bonded ceramic upon hydration thereof, and comprises powdered calcium aluminate and, optionally, minor amounts of calcium silicate. The second binder system is a cross-linking organic binder system which provides for initial crosslinking of the freshly mixed paste forming the biomaterial. The biomaterial also comprises inert filler particles. The inventive biomaterial is free from reactive glass and thus provides for a simplified two binder systems biomaterial with a reduced number of required reactive components The invention relates to a powdered composition for preparing the inventive chemically bonded ceramic biomaterial, and a paste from which the biomaterial is formed, as well as a kit comprising the powdered composition and hydration liquid, as well as methods and use of the biomaterial in dental and implant applications.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a calcium aluminate based paste forming a chemically bonded biomaterial on hydration thereof for in vivo anchoring of new implants, or stabilizing of existing implants in situ to an adjacent bone tissue, which paste provides a controlled pH value and temperature as well as initial hardening time. By virtue of the pH value and temperature the paste exhibits antibacterial and/or bacteriostatic properties. The present invention also relates to a method of preparing implants to be implanted wherein the implant is coated with the paste, a method of implanting a coated implant, as well as methods of preventing and treating implant related conditions, such as periimplantitis, and a kit for preparing the paste. The invention is especially intended for re-stabilization of dental implants, and implantation into low quality bone tissue.
Abstract:
A dental cement system, comprising an aqueous hydration liquid and a powdered material that essentially consists of an inorganic cement system, which powdered material has the capacity to form a complex, chemically bonded material with inorganic as well as organic phases with properties suitable for cementation of implant to another implant and/or to tooth or bone tissue. The invention relates to the powdered material and the hydration liquid, respectively, as well as the formed ceramic material and a kit comprising the system.
