Abstract:
A masterbatch may include a syndiotactic polypropylene and one or more additives. The one or more additives may be present in the masterbatch in an amount of at least 13 weight percent based on a total weight of the masterbatch. The masterbatch may be formed by mixing the one or more additives with the syndiotactic polypropylene. The masterbatch may be mixed with a resin to form a resin mixture.
Abstract:
A biaxially oriented film includes a PLA and polyolefm (PLA/PO) blend. The film has a haze of 80% or greater as measured by ASTM-D1003 and a 45° gloss of less than 50% as measured by ASTM-D-2457.
Abstract:
Films (or a cap layer of co-extruded films) and methods of forming the same are described herein. The films generally include a modified olefin based polymer including polypropylene and from 1 wt.% to 30 wt.% polylactic acid (PLA), wherein the modified olefin based polymer exhibits a seal initiation temperature (SIT) that is at least 5°C less than a seal initiation temperature of the polypropylene absent the PLA and a hot tack range of at least 20°C.
Abstract:
Fibers and articles formed therefrom are described herein. The fibers generally include a first polymer including a first propylene based impact copolymer and a second propylene based polymer.
Abstract:
Polyolefin blends and processes for forming polyolefin blends are described herein. The blends generally include a polyolefin and a monomer system including triacrylate monomers. The blends may further include one or more chain transfer agents.
Abstract:
A polystyrene (PS) composition for making an extruded foam, the PS composition comprising: a dried PS/alumina compound comprising a PS and an alumina additive, wherein the dried PS/alumina compound has a moisture content, measured by Coulometer, that is less than or equal to about 0.05 weight percent (wt%); and a blowing agent.
Abstract:
Polymer compositions and uses thereof are described. A polymeric composition can include a polyolefin polymer and a nucleating agent having an average particle size of less than 2 micrometers.
Abstract:
A film having a polypropylene and polylactic acid blend having a haze of from about 10% to about 100% and a gloss 45° of from about 20 to about 150.
Abstract:
A composition can include a polyolefin, a styrenic polymer, or a polylactic acid. The composition can include a metallic acrylate salt. A method of making a composition can include melt mixing a polyolefin, a styrenic polymer, or a polylactic acid with a metallic acrylate salt.
Abstract:
Polymeric compositions and methods of forming the same are described herein. The methods generally include contacting a polyolefm and a lactide in the presence of a catalyst within an extiaider under conditions sufficient to polymerize the lactide and form a polymeric composition including polyolefm and polylactic acid.
