Abstract:
The present disclosure provides compositions and methods for preventing and/or treating infection by coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV2 infection.
Abstract:
Provided herein are methods for promoting biostasis or preservation of a cell, tissue or organ during cancer treatment or for transplantation comprising contacting the cell, tissue or organ with an agonist of the δ-opioid receptor, SNC-80, an or Donepezil. Further provided herein is a method of treating a hematological neoplastic disease.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for producing and using a body having a first structure defining a first chamber, a second structure defining a second chamber, a membrane located at an interface region between the first chamber and the second chamber to separate the first chamber from the second chamber. The first chamber comprises a first permeable matrix disposed therein and the first permeable matrix comprises at least one or a plurality of lumens each extending therethrough, which is optionally lined with at least one layer of cells. The second chamber can comprise cells cultured therein. The systems and methods described herein can be used for various applications, including, e.g., growth and/or differentiation of primary cells, and/or simulation of a microenvironment in living tissues and/or organs (to model physiology or disease states, and/or to identify therapeutic agents). The systems and methods can also permit co-cultures of two or more different cell types.
Abstract:
Provided herein are methods for preparing a microbiome sample for transplantation into a subject in need thereof. In particular, the methods and compositions relate to methods of repopulating the microbiome of a subject in the treatment of gastrointestinal maladies e.g., diarrhea and/or constipation.
Abstract:
Described herein are heme-binding compositions and methods relating to their use, e.g. methods of treatment of, for example, sepsis and rhabdomyolysis.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a composite laminar material with high mechanical strength and methods of fabricating the material. The invention also provides a method of attaching a medical implant device to tissue.
Abstract:
The present invention provides for engineered molecular opsonins that may be used to bind biological pathogens or identify subclasses or specific pathogen species for use in devices and systems for treatment and diagnosis of patients with infectious diseases, blood-borne infections or sepsis. An aspect of the invention provides for mannose-binding lectin (MBL), which is an abundant natural serum protein that is part of the innate immune system. The ability of this protein lectin to bind to surface molecules on virtually all classes of biopathogens (viruses, bacteria, fungi, protozoans) make engineered forms of MBL extremely useful in diagnosing and treating infectious diseases and sepsis.
Abstract:
Described herein are polypeptides, compositions, kits, and analyte detection systems for the detection of the presence or absence of small molecules (e.g. histamine and/or histidine) in a test sample.
Abstract:
Described herein are compositions and methods for inducing Type I interferon production. The compositions described comprise immunostimulatory oligonucleotide duplexes including a 5' terminal monophosphate-CUGA-3' sequence. Compositions comprising the immunostimulatory oligonucleotide duplexes described can be used for the treatment of diseases or disorders that respond to interferons.
Abstract:
This disclosure is generally directed to electrochemical readout of rapid diagnostics related to use of CRISPR effector systems. In one aspect, the disclosure provides a nucleic acid detection system. Generally, the system comprises: (1) a detection CRISPR system comprising an effector protein and one or more guide nucleic acid (gNA) strands designed to bind to corresponding target nucleic acid molecules; (2) an effector strand and (3) an electrode.
