Abstract:
A system implantable components (32, 36, 38, 40) for providing therapy to or monitoring the physiologic state of living tissue. The components exchange signals over implanted bus (34). The bus includes a trunk (84) and at least one branch (14) The at least one branch is connected to and able to move relative to the trunk. Signals are inductively exchanged between the branch and the one or more trunks.
Abstract:
An implantable electrode array (40, 310) that includes multiple spaced apart electrodes (42, 316) to which current can be individually sourced and sunk. The array includes a carrier (80, 312) that supports the electrodes. One or more control modules ( that source current to or sink current from the electrodes are disposed in windows (81, 404) within the carrier.
Abstract:
A method of assembling an implantable electrode array from a coupon (108) formed from plastically deformable material. Layers of material are disposed on the coupon to form the electrodes (48) and conductors (62) of one or more electrode arrays. Sections of the coupon on which the electrodes and conductors are removed, along with the electrodes and conductors to form the electrode arrays. The removed sections of the coupon thus function as plastically deformable carriers (74) for the arrays (40).
Abstract:
An electrode array (40) with a flexible substrate (46, 56) on which plural spaced apart electrodes (42) are disposed. The electrodes are part of electrode array packages (44). Each electrode array package (44) includes at least one electrode and an integrated circuit (152) with components that source current to, sink current from or monitor the signal present at the associated electrode.
Abstract:
An electrode array assembly (28) with a frame that is foldable or bendable (32) on which electrodes (36) are disposed. The frame includes tabs (55) that are spaced from adjacent portions of the frame; the electrodes are disposed on the tabs.
Abstract:
An implantable medical device (50) formed from one or more layers (136, 138, 140 142, 144) of thin film polymer is assembled by providing by adhesively securely one or more polymer coupons (176, 196) on individual rigid backings (172, 192). After each coupon is shaped or components mounted to the coupon, the coupons are bonded together. The adhesive is dissolved to remove the device from the backing or backings to which it is attached.
