Abstract:
An age determination device is provided in the form of a mobile unit having a touchscreen of sufficient dimensions to enable the length of a foot of a child whose age is to be determined to be applied to the touchscreen. An onboard or separate processor is programmed to receive information representative of the measured length of a foot and to communicate with a database having data enabling a measured foot length to be correlated with a projected age of a child having the measured foot. The programming of the processor may optionally provide one or two lines on the screen capable of being manually dragged by a finger engaging the touchscreen to positions corresponding to an extremity of the heel or an extremity of the longest toe of a foot being measured. An optional retractable measuring element may physically measure the length of a foot from a device edge.

The object of the invention is a measuring device for comprehensive screening for children and adolescents comprising a body in the form of a component vertically ending at the top with an arm mounted at the angle of 90°, rotationally in the horizontal plane, positioned on the base, characterised in that on the arm there are a motion sensor system and a height measurement system, additionally on the vertical component there is at least one interactive electronic device, a bioelectrical impedance (BI) measurement system, a waist and hip circumference measurement system, while the base comprises a built-in body weight measurement system. The object of the invention is also a measuring system.

A membrane assembly for use with a three-dimensional imager to obtain a topographical plantar image of a foot is provided. The assembly includes a support structure having a front end and a rear end elevated relative to the front end, and a flexible membrane suspended from the support structure and configured to receive and support an entire plantar surface of the foot. The membrane defines and encloses an upper portion of an inflatable chamber, and includes a forefoot- and a rearfoot-receiving region respectively adjacent to the front and the rear end of the support structure. The rearfoot-receiving region is under less tension than the forefoot-receiving region. The imager is positionable under the membrane in order to acquire the plantar image when the foot is disposed on the membrane. An apparatus including a membrane assembly and a three-dimensional imager, and a method for imaging a foot are also provided.

A foot pressure measurement and foot length measurement device employs a plurality of pressure sensors and an optical foot length measurement system. The device also includes a computer that can perform an analysis of the foot pressure and length data to select an appropriate orthotic device. The foot measurement device may be integrated into a kiosk. Orthotic devices that have myriad configurations are also disclosed.

An apparatus and method for determining contours of a patient's foot. The apparatus includes an alignment section that orientates the foot relative to an optical imaging section. The alignment section includes at least one support member located proximate a focal length of the imaging section, that engages the plantar surface substantially only in the immediate area of the fifth metatarsal head of the foot. The support generates a dorsally-directed load that locks the midtarsal joint. The alignment section further includes a heel stirrup and a laser beam or other reference line for aligning the second metatarsal head with the distal one-third of the lower leg, to place the subtalar joint in a neutral condition. The foot is thus suspended in space such that the imaging section is able to obtain an accurate measurement of the plantar surface without distortion of the soft tissues or bone structure of the foot.

This invention relates generally to an index map comprising both pressure and perfusion information from a diabetic patient foot for the purpose of treatment. The index map may also be a map of perfusion and/or metabolism of the tissue (reflecting oxygen delivery and oxygen extraction, obtained by thermal imaging, hyperspectral imaging, or duplex ultrasound, MRA, CT or laser Doppler imaging. This information aids treatment in prevention of diabetic foot ulceration and amputation and in treatment of tissue compromise to prevent tissue loss in other body regions.

The present invention refers to an apparatus to detect the anatomic shape of a subject or one of its parts (11), such as the end of a limb: a foot, a hand, or the trunk, the head or similar organs. The apparatus comprises a plurality of image acquisition devices (20) distributed in a housing chamber (15) to acquire from different points of views a plurality of images of said part (11) or subject. Multiple marking signs (26a, 26b, 26c, 26d, 26e, 26f) having different outlines and colors are distributed on a coating element (36) worn on the part or subject to be detected so that each of the marking signs (26a, 26b, 26c, 26d, 26e, 26f) with a particular outline and a particular color is arranged adjacent to at least another marking sign (26a, 26b, 26c, 26d, 26e, 26f) with a different color and/ or a different outline. A processing unit (28) is connected to the image acquisition devices (20) and is able to recognize each of the marking signs (26a, 26b, 26c, 26d, 26e, 26f) which appears in different images by means of discrimination of the respective outline and the respective color.
