Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention is a hair graft derived from a plucked hair comprising a plucked hair having adhered epidermal stem cells and associated follicular dermal cells. The present invention also includes methods of making a hair graft, methods of implanting a hair graft and methods of identifying inductive follicular dermal cells.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method of treating a chronic ulcer, such as a diabetic ulcer, comprising administering a therapeutic amount of a hydrogen matrix to the ulcer, the matrix composition comprising gelatin and a long chain carbohydrate. The matrix may further include polar amino acids, nitric oxide inhibitors and super oxide inhibitors. Injection is a preferred method of administration. The matrix may be injected into one or more locations within the ulcer, underneath the ulcer and/or around the periphery of the ulcer.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a composition for stimulating hair growth in a mammal comprising a modified osteopontin polypeptide in which an RGD domain is inactivated; and a pharmaceutically acceptable and/or cosmetically acceptable excipient, carrier or diluent. The invention further provides methods of stimulating hair growth in a mammal.
Abstract:
A composite implant includes a mesh having a biologically-active material configured to contact biological tissue and blood vessels; a resin disposed on the mesh; and a channel in the mesh which is configured to receive growth of the biological tissue and blood vessels, wherein the resin is biocompatible and non-absorbable. A process for preparing the composite implant includes disposing a plurality of layers of biologically-active material as an array; contacting the plurality of layers with a resin; and hardening the resin to form the composite implant. A process of using the composite implant includes implanting the composite implant into a subject, wherein the implant comprises: a mesh comprising a biologically-active material configured to contact biological tissue and blood vessels; a resin disposed on the mesh; and a channel in the mesh which is configured to receive growth of the biological tissue and blood vessels.
Abstract:
The invention features methods of inducing hair follicle formation in a mammal by transplantation of skin-derived precursors (SKPs) and keratinocytes into the skin of the mammal. The invention also features compositions and kits including SKPs and keratinocytes. In other aspects, the invention features methods for producing dermal sheets from SKPs, methods for using such sheets and dermal sheets produced by SKPs.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a hair graft comprising (a) tissue engineered skin comprising a tissue engineered epidermal layer, a tissue engineered dermal layer, and hair follicle progenitor cells and (b) a scaffold. The invention also provides methods of making and using the hair grafts of the present invention.
