Molded rubber objects may be molded and de-molded by defining both a desired final form for the molded rubber object and a tab extending from the final form of the molded rubber object using a cavity in a mold. Rubber pellets may be dispensed in predetermined amounts at desired location(s) within the cavity to provide the rubber needed to form the molded rubber object. Heat and pressure may be applied to the mold to cause the rubber pellets to fill the cavity defining both the desired final form of the molded rubber object and the tab. After the heat and pressure has been applied, a gripping device may grasp the tab and move the tab in a direction and with sufficient force to peel the rubber object from the mold cavity. If desired, the tab may be removed from the molded rubber object.

The second layer is interlocked with the undercut features, the third layer is adhered to the adhesive, and the second layer is disposed between the first layer and the third layer. A method is also provided including (a) depositing a polyolefin resin into a mold cavity to form a first layer including undercut features; (b) demolding the first layer from the mold cavity at a rate of at least 150 millimeters per minute; (c) applying a curable adhesive to the undercut features to form a second layer attached to the first layer; and (d) attaching a third layer including a substrate to the second layer.

A multi-piece mold for use in a method for making a slurry distributor includes a plurality of mold segments adapted to be removably secured together. The mold segments are configured such that, when the mold segments are assembled together, the assembled mold segments define a substantially continuous exterior surface adapted to be a negative image of an interior flow region of a slurry distributor molded thereupon. Each mold segment has a maximum cross-sectional area in a plane substantially transverse to a direction of movement of the mold segment along a removal path out of a respective opening of the molded slurry distributor. The maximum cross-sectional area of each mold segment is up to about 150% of the smallest area of the interior flow region of the molded slurry distributor through which the mold segment traverses when moving along the respective removal path.

The inventive method is carried out using multiple cavity injection moulding tools comprising multiple rows and/or columns of cavities (3), and is initiated after the moulding tool has been opened. The lower closing device parts are only slightly lifted out of their cavities (3) and therefore only partially removed from the mould at first by means of specially formed ejectors which form a core and therefore a support surface for said lower closing device parts. The lids are completely ejected and then hang freely on the lower closing device parts with their hinges at an angle. A frame (6) is first moved between the mould parts (1, 2) of the injection moulding tool in order to close the lids. An arm (11, 12) is provided on this frame (6) for each row of adjacently injection-moulded closing devices, said arms being displaceable on the frame (6). Each arm (11,12) has several side arms (13, 14) which branch off towards the side of the mould part (1) with the closing devices to be closed and which each carry a closing cylinder (15,16) at the end. Each arm (11,12) is compulsorily guided along a curve on the frame (6) in such a way that, in relation to the sealing surface of the mould part (1), the closing cylinders (15,16) of its side arms (13,14) move first between the mould parts (1, 2), above the ejected, open lids, then at an angle to the sealing surface (4), under the lids to be closed. The closing cylinders (15,16) rotate the lids closed, moving away from the sealing surface (4) at an angle, and turn them over on their upper surface with bearing pressure, so that the lids engage in the lower closing device parts. The counter-pressure is absorbed by the ejectors. Last of all, the closed lid closing devices are completely removed from the mould.

A further step includes demolding additional portions of the tread by sliding at least a portion of the demolded portion along the portion of the tread remaining in the mold with the lubricant arranged between the demolded portion and the portion of the tread remaining within the mold.
