The seal die (110) is made of a conductive material and is configured to impart thermal-mechanical energy to the first (102a) and second (102b) sheets of material. The seal die (110) includes a bottom surface (310) configured to contact the first sheet (102a), an inner edge (320), a chamfer (330) extending between the bottom surface (310) and the inner edge (320), a first blend radius (340), and a second blend radius (350). The first radius (340) extends between the chamfer (330) and the bottom surface (310), while the second radius (350) extends between the chamfer (330) and the inner edge (320). The platen (120) is configured to support the second sheet (102b), while the control unit (130) is programmed to cause the seal die (110) to be directed towards the platen (120).
