Abstract:
Bag-on-container assemblies and bag-in-container assemblies are disclosed. The container may include a paperboard box having a front wall, a rear wall, a pair of opposed side walls, a plurality of flaps capable of forming a bottom wall and a plurality of flaps capable of forming a top wall. The inside surfaces of the box walls, including the outwardly facing strips, may have a thermal plastic coating thereon. The bag component of each type of assembly may include a closure member for to enable resealing of the bag component.
Abstract:
A carton, a method and an apparatus for forming a novel carton, having a waterproof lining (110) are disclosed. The carton preferably may include a base portion, leading and trailing end edges, first and second side edges, leading and trailing end flaps, and first and second side flaps. The waterproof lining may be affixed to the carton by an adhesive pattern (62) disposed on the at least a portion of the carton. Upon folding of the flaps about the base portion, a container having a waterproof lining may be formed for retaining objects. The waterproof lining may include a bag and may further include a means for sealing the bag for enclosing wet objects, such as seafood products, therein.

Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention concerns a device for making composite blanks essentially comprising: a station unwinding and feeding film from two coils (11, 12); means for supplying cardboard blanks; lateral means for gripping (14) blanks and stretching them; a cutting-soldering station (15, 16). The invention also concerns the resulting blanks and the packages produced from these blanks.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a container (10) suitable for providing insulation wherein the container has an inner shrink film (14) liner. The sidewalls of the container, which can be made from paperboard or other suitable material, are vented to allow ambient air to freely flow through the sidewall of the container during activation of the shrink film (14) with hot liquid or other suitable material. When the container is filled with material having a temperature of from about 130° F to up to about 212° F, the shrink film (14) is activated and the container (10) provides excellent insulation, thereby allowing the container to be held in a consumer' s hand for an extended period without causing burns or excessive discomfort. Methods of making this container (10) are also provided.
Abstract:
A container or container blank (100) comprises a base portion (2) having a pair of opposed side wall portions (3B,5B) and an opposed front wall portion (4B) and rear wall portion (6B), each wall portion (3B,4B,5B,6B) being connected to the base portion (2) at a fold line (3,4,5,6). Each side wall portion (3B,5B) has inner and outer sections (3B,7;5B,7) separated by a fold land, the sections being adapted for folding about the fold land to assume a position overlying one another, the outer section (7) including locking means (7A,7B) engagable in the base portion (2) to secure said overlying position. The front and rear wall portions (4B,6B) each have a riser section and a lid section (11, 10). The base at least has attached thereto a web of material (12) adapted to retain an article within a container formed from the blank, (100). An apparatus and method for forming a container blank having a web attached thereto and an apparatus and method for forming a container from blank are disclosed with reference to the direction in which adhesive is applied to secure the material web to the base and the improved tension characteristics of the web an article within the container. An apparatus and method for filing, closing and sealing and open-mouthed container is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method for providing for encapsulating a cellulose based substrate (20) with polymeric films (43) involves heating the respective films using a non-electrogmagnetic radiation heating source and providing a pressure differential between an environment defined between the films (43) and an environment external to the films (43) so that conformance of the films to the cellulose based substrate (20) is promoted. The cellulose based substrate (20) is entirely encapsulated by the films and the films are sealed around the peripheral edges of the container as well as edges that are defined adjacent slots (32) and cutouts (42).
Abstract:
A BIB carton (150) conjoins a bag (12) with a carton (11) preparatory to carton fill, with an intervening locating collar (14) upon a bag neck upstand (52); an assembly and fill process brings successive individual cartons (41) into juxtaposition with a bag (51) in a continuous bag web (55), using the neck (52) for alignment and registration; a locating retention collar (14) is applied to secure bag neck (52) to carton (41), to create a sub-assembly web stack (71) of conjoined flat-pack BIB cartons (20); an inflation (test) station (110) retrieves these sub-assemblies (20) and inflates/fills them via successive valve caps (111) secured to collars (14); bag (51) inflation / fill causes carton (41) formation around it, before a taping machine closes and seals top (56, 42, 48) and bottom (57, 58) carton flaps.
