摘要:
Examples of forming metal composites are described herein. In an example, a metal sheet is formed into a predetermined shape using superplastic thermal forming technique. Further, a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer sheet is shaped into the predetermined shape by thermal forming. The metal sheet and the carbon fiber-reinforced polymer sheet are coupled by applying an adhesive between the metal sheet and the carbon fiber-reinforced polymer sheet, to form a metal composite.

A waved meltblown fiber web of the present invention relates to a fiber web prepared by a meltblown method and is characterized by a preparation method in which a meltblown microfiber comes in contact with collection portions having different surface velocities so as to be collected. The waved meltblown fiber web of the present invention is characterized in that: a part of meltblown microfibers reaches a low velocity collection portion so as to be horizontally layered, thereby forming a horizontal fiber layer (10); another part of the meltblown microfibers reaches a high velocity collection portion of which the surface velocity is greater that of the low velocity collection portion so as to form a serpentine vertical fiber layer (20); and the upper end of the vertical fiber layer (20) becomes entangled so as to form a wave shaped wave layer (30) forming the uppermost portion of the fiber web.

A reinforced liner and methods of manufacturing the liner are disclosed. The liner includes a glass veil layer as an innermost layer in combination with an outer reinforcing layer that includes glass fibers. The glass veil layer and the reinforcing layer are joined together, such as by an elastic yarn. Inclusion of the glass veil layer imparts desirable surface finish characteristics to the reinforced liner.

Porous multilayer articles and methods of making are disclosed. Multicomponent polymeric fibers are introduced into a forming chamber and are deposited onto a first porous substrate. The multicomponent fibers are then bonded to each other to form a porous coherent web, and the porous coherent web is bonded to the first porous substrate, so as to form a porous multilayer article. The porous coherent web contains particles that are bonded to the multicomponent fibers of the web. The particles in the porous coherent web may be e.g. abrasive, absorbent, etc.

A laminated article (10, 10') includes an optional scrim material (12), a barrier film (14) and a chopped fiberglass layer (16) or a fiberglass mat (16'). The barrier film (14) is extruded and the scrim material (12) and the chopped fiberglass (16) or fiberglass mat (16') are applied to the barrier film (14) while at least a portion of the barrier film (14) is in a molten state. The method of the invention eliminates the need to heat the scrim/barrier film/fiberglass composite in an oven to heat activate the adhesive layers in the barrier film (14), thereby reducing time and cost associated with the manufacturing of the laminated article (10, 10').
