Abstract:
Abstract:
Torsional rigidity is ensured for right and left caterpillar links, and damages to seals are prevented to suppress leakage of a lubricating oil to improve durability of a caterpillar device. Thus the caterpillar device for crawler vehicles comprises a pin (10) for connection of caterpillar links (8) in right row and lengthwise adjacent to one another with caterpillar links (9) in left row and lengthwise adjacent to one another, a stationary bush (11), a rotating bush (12) rotatably fitted onto the stationary bush and adapted to engage with drive sprockets, respective support members (13, 13) of a bracket-shaped cross section, respectively, inserted into the caterpillar links in right and left rows and having outer diameter portions (13d, 13d) press fitted into second connection ends (8b, 9b) of the caterpillar links and inner diameter portions (13e, 13e), into which the stationary bush is press fitted, first seals (14, 14) inserted between outer side ends (13a, 13a) of the respective support members and the facing caterpillar links, and second seals (15, 15) inserted between inner side ends (13b, 13b) and both ends of the facing rotating bush.
Abstract:
An endless track chain (10) with a rotatable bushing (50) is disclosed that utilizes sleeve bearings (54) for rotatably mounting the inboard end collars (17) of the links (16) about the pin (41). The joint (14) of the track chain (10) is sealed and lubricated. Sealing means (66) for the joint (14) incorporates the use of a second set of seals (67) for sealing between the rotatable bushing (50) and the inboard end collars (17) of the link (16). A unique design for the links (16) enables the chain (10) to accommodate the second set of seals (67) without any loss of structural integrity in the chain (10) or any disadvantageous increase in rail gauge width ('G') of the chain (10). The track chain (10) also utilizes means (45) for mechanically interlocking the outboard end collars (18) of the links (16) to the end portions (42) of the pin (41) to eliminate joint end play.
Abstract:
An endless track comppsing a plurality of links which are releasably, rotatably coupled together to form an endless track, and wherein each of the links has a male linking end, an opposite female linking end, and an outwardly facing surface, and wherein the male linking end of a first link releasably couples and decouples from the female linking end of an adjacent second link when the angular relationship between the first and second links as measured between the outwardly facing surfaces thereof lies in a range of greater than about 45 degrees to less than about 110 degrees, and wherein the first and second links freely rotate one relative to the other when the angular relationship between the first and second links lies in a range of greater than about 110 degrees to less than about 270 degrees.
Abstract:
A ground contacting component for an articulated vehicle track link is retained in the track link by engagement of latterally projecting wings (74) in grooves of the track link. The ground contacting component (70) includes a resilient tongue (78) which engages an end wall of the track link (50) to prevent movement of the ground contacting component out of the track link. The resilient tongue includes a removal tool engagement formation (79) which cooperates with the removal tool (10) of the invention to depress the resilient tongue (78) and to withdraw the ground contacting component from the track link.
Abstract:
A device constituting a part of a band, said band being intended to be arranged around at least one wheel (2) of a vehicle for cooperation with a bed, said device comprising an actuating member (1) intended to extend substantially across the envelope surface of the wheel (2), two members connected to the actuating member and arranged at a mutually distance for forming a support for the actuating member (1) on each side of the wheel (2) in the lateral direction of the wheel (2), and connection members (4) including at least one opening (5) for receiving a part of a link element (6) for connecting to devices being adjacent with respect to the longitudinal direction of the band, and at which at least one of said support members (3) and one of said connection members (4) are arranged in one piece forming a combination element (7) and the opening (5) of the combination element (7) ends in a surface directed towards the actuating member (1).
Abstract:
Track links have been typically difficult to service due to their size, weight, and the considerable use of press or force fits between components. According to the present invention, there is provided an easily serviceable hinge joint including two meshed hinge members having aligned bores therein. The track assembly includes two meshed track links (10, 12) one having a narrow end (20) received in a notch (22) in an enlarged end (24) in the other, aligned bores (26, 28) in the links, a hinge pin (30) received in the bore for pivoting the links together, annular grooves (40) at opposite ends of the pins, retaining rings (44) in the grooves, recesses (42) in one of the links about the bore therein adjacent the ends of the pin and defining shoulders substantially abutted by the retaining rings, and caps (50, 52) closing the recesses and having axial portions (54) about the periphery of the respective retaining rings for preventing radial movement thereof.
