摘要: A stackable and nestable carrier for transportation or storage of an array of food containers, wherein the containers each comprise an upwardly opening foil tray having an upper peripheral flange (6,7) and a peelable cover secured to the flange; • the carrier comprising a multiplicity of upwardly opening receptacles connected by a web (1) to form an array of receptacles; • wherein each receptacle is configured to receive said container with the flange overlying the web; • wherein at least a plurality of the receptacles comprise one or more side walls (3) which are deformed outwardly to form an upwardly opening channel (10-16) on an inner surface of the side wall and a corresponding upwardly extending rib on the outer surface of the side wall; • wherein two adjacent identical carriers may be arranged with a second tray above a first tray in first and second orientations, wherein in the first orientation the locations of the ribs (4,5,19-25) of a second carrier correspond to locations of the channels of a first carrier, so that each rib may be received in a channel, so that the second carrier may be nested within the first carrier; and • wherein the second carrier may be rotated in a horizontal plane to a second position relative to the first carrier, wherein the ribs (4,5,19-25) do not coincide with the channels (10-16), so that the first carrier supports the second carrier in spaced relation thereto.

摘要: A food tray has a lower tray containing a first food product and an upper tray nested stably at least partly inside the lower tray, with the upper tray containing a second food product. An air permeable interface is provided between the upper tray and lower tray to allow venting of steam from the lower tray during cooking. A cover is provided for the food tray. Each of the lower tray and the upper tray are formed of a material that is suitable for use in a microwave or conventional oven. Various constructions may be used to create the air permeable interface, such as lugs, ledges and lips. The upper tray may sit above the lower tray. The trays are nested loosely for ease of removal of the upper tray from the lower tray. Various configurations of cover may be used such as a sleeve, carton or lid. The upper tray may contain the higher value food product.

摘要: A container (10) adapted to receive an inner receptacle is provided. The container (10) includes a base (12) for supporting a lower portion of the inner receptacle, where the base (12) includes a peripheral frame portion (30) defining at least one relatively large opening therebetween. A first pair of opposed walls (14, 16) extends upwardly from the peripheral frame portion (30), and a second pair of opposed walls (18, 20) extends upwardly from the peripheral frame portion (30) and is attached to the first pair of opposed walls (14, 16). As assembled, the first and second pairs of opposed walls and the base define a compartment area for receiving the inner receptacle therein.

摘要: The present invention is concerned with apparatus and method for packing and handling articles of produce and the like. The apparatus includes a uniquely designed produce basket (10) and rack (30) combination. The basket comprises a framework (12) containing a basket opening (14). A flange (18) is detachably attached to the framework (12) and surrounds the basket opening (14). A pair of lugs (22a, 22b) extend out from the flange (28), and function as handles for carrying the basket or for pulling the flange to detach it from the basket framework (12). An air-permeable barrier (20) is heat sealed to the flange (18) to create a closure to the basket opening (14). The closure is first opened by detaching at least a portion of the basket flange from the framework and is closed by pulling the detached flange portion down around the opening of the framework and engaging a spur.

摘要: Food packaging has a base tray and a second tray which nests in the base tray. The base tray has one or more walls terminating in a land. The land has an indent in its upper surface at least partially surrounded by an indent wall which extends continuously along an inward side of the indent so as to separate the indent from a main cavity formed by the base tray walls. The second tray nested has a flange supported by the land. The flange extends partially over the indent. The indent is sized to admit a finger within the indent below the flange. In consequence, after cooking of the foods in the trays, the consumer can use the indent in gripping the flange of the second tray without direct exposure to steam from the food cooked in the base tray. The consumer can then add a selected amount of food from the second tray to the base tray.

摘要: A package assembly (100) including a first package (200) containing a second package (300) is provided. The first package (200) can contain two or more compartments. A first compartment (225) can substantially contain the second package (300) and a second compartment (230) can substantially contain a food product (110), such as a meat. The second package (300) can contain a food additive (120), such as a marinade. Although substantially contained within the first compartment of the first package (200), the second package (300) includes a reputable seal (350a) located proximate the second compartment (230) of the first package (200). Applying pressure to the first compartment (225) and, thus, the second package (300) can break the rupturable seal to distribute the food additive (120) from the second package (300) to the food product (110) in the second compartment (230). The first package (200) can include a perimeter hard seal configured to withstand the pressure and, thus, prevent the leaking of any of the food product (110) or the food additive (120) from the first package (200) during the distribution of the food additive (120).
