The invention relates to a reel-up (1) for receiving and winding into a roll (2) a paper web (W) that arrives from a drying cylinder in a paper making machine and for starting a new roll (2) from a tail (19) formed by cutting the paper web (W). The reel-up (1) comprises a rotatably mounted reel spool (3) onto which a paper web (W) can be wound to create a paper roll (2) of increasing diameter; and an endless flexible belt (4) mounted for rotation along a predetermined path of travel such that the flexible belt (4) forms a loop. The flexible belt (4) is positioned adjacent to the reel spool (3) to engage the paper web (W) against the reel spool (3) during winding such that the flexible belt (4) is deflected from the predetermined path of travel by an amount relative to the amount of paper material wound on the reel spool (3). A pair of water nozzles (14, 15) is arranged such that each water nozzle(14, 15) can direct a web-cutting water jet stream against the paper web (W) to cut the paper web (W) at a point before the paper web (W) reaches the flexible belt (4). Each water nozzle (14, 15) is arranged to be movable in a direction which is transverse to the direction of movement of the paper web (W) and a glue nozzle (17) is arranged to direct a stream of glue against the reel spool (3)or against the tail (19). The invention also relates to a corresponding method for operating the reel-up.

Die Vorrichtung (1) zum unterbruchfreien Aufwickeln von kontinuierlich zugeförderten Warenbahnen (3) umfasst vier Transportmittel (11, 21, 25, 27), welche zu Beginn des Aufwickelprozesses einen Käfig bilden. Mit wachsendem Durchmesser des Wickels (17) und Wegführen des zweiten Transportmittels (21) werden das dritte und vierte Transportmittel (25, 27) radial vom Wickelzentrum weggeführt.

A method and an apparatus for controlling the cross-directional nip profile of a reeling nip in a reeler, in which the reeling nip (N1) is arranged by means of a reeling core or a growing machine reel (R) and at least one loop of an endless supporting member (1) continuous in the direction of the axis of the reeling core (5). To control the cross-directional nip profile of the reeling nip (N1), variables proportional to the tension of the supporting member are measured, cross-directional tension profile of the supporting member (1) is determined on the basis of said variables, and further, a cross-directional nip profile of the reeling nip is determined, said nip profile being controlled by adjusting the determined cross-directional tension profile of the supporting member (1).

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus in reeling up, in which a paper web or the like (W) is reeled around a center-driven reel spool (5), which is transferred from the primary reeling to the secondary reeling, in which reeling the reel spool (5) is transferred in accordance with the growth of the reel by means of a transfer device (7) at least at some stage of the reeling and the web is brought at said stage from below the reel spool (5) via a reeling nip (N1) formed by the reel spool (5) and a loop (1) of an endless supporting member. According to the invention the web (W) is guided around the reel spool (5) during the reeling via an auxiliary nip (N2) formed by means of the reel spool (5) and the roll (10, 10’).

The invention relates to a method and a reel-up in a reeling up process in which a paper web is reeled continuously into reels around rotating cores (4) in such a manner that the web is guided into a reel (3) around the reeling core (4) via a reeling nip (2) between a loop of an endless supporting member (7) and the reel (3). At least at some stage the reeling core (4) is transferred in relation to the loop of the supporting member (7) in accordance with the growth of the diameter of the reel (3) in such a manner that the position of said reeling nip (2) moves forward on the portion of the endless supporting member (7) carrying the web (1) in the travel direction of said portion. The force pressing the surfaces of the web (1) and the endless supporting member (7) together and the holding between the web and the supporting member are controlled by means of negative pressure arranged at least on a part of the portion of the supporting member carrying the web.

An apparatus and method for turning-up a web (40) is disclosed that results in greater efficiency. The method has been found to work especially well when the web is a bulky tissue web, but is also suitable for other web materials. The apparatus includes a reel spool (54) having a cylindrical surface, the cylindrical surface includes at least one axial line of adhesive (66) and a plurality of apertures (64) operatively connected to a source of vacuum.

Coreless tissue rolls can be produced without having to use an adhesive to form a hollow center. Instead, moisture can be used to promote light hydrogen bonding between the layers of the tissue web that line the hollow center. The hydrogen bonding provides sufficient structure to maintain the shape of the hollow center without rendering the tissue web surrounding the passageway unusable. Passageways can also be formed in accordance with the present disclosure that are substantially circular so that the rolls will easily spin on a spindle. In an alternative embodiment, moisture is not used in constructing the wound tissue roll.

A winder (10) for winding continuous webs or interleaved web segments (12) into rolls is disclosed. The winder has first and second rollers (28, 30), a pressure assist device, a winding spindle (18), and a continuous belt (16) having first and second surfaces. The belt is disposed about the first and second rollers. The web material is disposed upon at least a portion of the first surface of the belt. The winding spindle receives the web material when the spindle is proximate to the web material disposed upon the first surface of the belt. At least one of the longitudinal axis of the first roller and the longitudinal axis of the second roller is adjustable relative to the winding spindle. The pressure assist device is disposed proximate to the second surface of the belt and is adjustable relative to at least one of the second surface of the belt and the winding spindle.
