The present disclosure relates to two-part polyurethane coatings having excellent erosion resistance and comprising a compound having a fluorinated segment. Additionally, these two-part polyurethane coatings can be cured under high relative humidity conditions. The present disclosure also relates to articles coated with those two-part polyurethane coatings and to methods of reducing erosion in an article, among other embodiments.

Coatings are provided with very low surface energies provided by fluorine and/or silicone moieties. Aqueous dispersions of externally chain extended polyurethane compositions terminated by hydrolyzable and/or hydrolyzed silyl groups and containing dispersing or emulsifying groups, particularly carboxyl groups are provided. Also polyurethane dispersions which are substantially organic solvent free which cure to water and solvent resistant, tough, scratch resistant, preferably light stable polyurethane films are provided. Such films are useful as anti-fouling marine coatings. The compound RfR'fCFCOOCH2C(R)(CH2OH)2 is provided.

An ionic diol has formula wherein R 1 represents an alkyl group having from 6 to 18 carbon atoms; R 2 and R 3 independently represent alkyl groups having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R 4 represents an alkylene group having from 2 to 8 carbon atoms; and R 5 represents an alkylene group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms. Antistatic polymers are formed by copolymerization of monomers including a diisocyanate, an ionic diol, a polyether diol, and at least one non-ionic diols. Methods of making the antistatic polyurethanes are also disclosed.

The invention provides a method for preparing a desired organic compound by reacting one or more reactants in a reaction medium comprising a fluorinated ether compound wherein the fluorinated ether compound comprises at least 3 carbon atoms and a perfluorinated moiety that is linked through ether oxygen atoms to one or more hydrocarbon moieties. The invention also provides certain products as a result of carrying out the aforementioned methods and methods of using such compositions to treat substrates like fabrics or electronic components.

Aqueous dispersions containing anionic polyurethanes are prepared by reacting a prepolymer A), obtained from aliphatic or cycloaliphatic diisocyanates, polytetramethylene glycol and one or more anionic or potentially anionic polyols, with a chain extender B) which is a diamine sulfonate salt; the dispersion have a medium particle size above 600 nm and give films of high opacity and soft-feel touch which are useful for the coating of leather, fabrics, paper, cardboard, plastic, wood and metals.

The present invention relates to a fluorochemical composition for rendering fibrous substrates oil repellent, water repellent and/or stain or soil repellent. Additionally, the invention also relates to fluorochemical compositions for providing stain release or soil release properties to fibrous substrates. In particular, the present invention relates to fluorochemical compositions that contain a fluorinated polyether compound that can be obtained by reacting an isocyanate component with a particular isocyanate reactive fluorinated polyether compound and a stain release compound. The invention further relates to a method of treating the fibrous substrate with the fluorochemical composition.

Fluorochemical urethane compositions comprising one or more compounds or oligomers having at least on fluorine-containing repeatable unit and at least one fluorine-containing terminal group are described. The compositions are useful as coatings or incorporated as melt additives. The fluorochemical compositions impart oil and water repellency to the substrate. In other aspects, this invention relates to processes for imparting oil and water repellency characteristics to substrates and articles.

In accordance with the present invention, there are provided coating compositions for preparing cross-linked fluorinated polyurethane coatings and liners that exhibit high optical clarity and transparency, as well as resilience against adverse environmental effects. The present invention also provides methods for coating solid substrates with transparent, environmentally-resistant cross-linked, fluorinated polyurethane coatings, as well as the resulting coated articles.
