Abstract:
The present invention related to a thermoplastic composition, suitable to be submitted to common methods of heat forming, or thermoforming, of thermoplastic materials, as well as the thermoformed composite material which is obtained/can be obtained from said thermoplastic composition, said thermoplastic composition and said thermoformed composite material derived therefrom comprising the combination of cellulose with a thermoplastic material comprising a hydrolysable or hydrosoluble polyhydroxylated polymer, such as starch or a polymer based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), wherein cellulose is available in an amount ranging from 30 to 60% by Weight, preferably from 40 to 60% by weight, said percentages being calculated on 100 parts by weight of the combination of cellulose with the thermoplastic material comprising a hydrolysable or hydrosoluble polyhydroxylated polymer.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides injectable synthetic and biodegradable polymeric biomaterials that effectively prevent seroma, a common postoperative complication following ablative and reconstructive surgeries. Provided biomaterials include physically crosslinked hydrogels that are thixotropic, display rapid chain relaxation, are easily extruded through narrow gauge needles, biodegrade into inert products, are well tolerated by soft tissues, and effectively prevent seroma in a radical breast mastectomy animal model.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition for preparing a passivation layer for an organic thin film transistor, which comprises water soluble polymer comprising hydroxyl group; and aldehyde compound selected from dialdehydes and polyaldehydes. The invention also relates to an organic thin film transistor comprising an organic passivation layer formed from said composition, and a display device comprising said organic thin film transistor. The present invention relates to a technique which should be essentially applied to a process for applying an organic thin film transistor (OTFT) to an array device. By improving the property of the organic passivation layer to block moisture and oxygen, device reliability of the organic thin film transistor can be enhanced.

Abstract:
According to an aspect of the invention, a polymerized form of formaldehyde is available in granular form containing a polymerized form of formaldehyde, such as paraformaldehyde, a buffer, such as sodium phosphate dibasic anhydrous, and a stabilizer, such as hydroxymethyl cellulose, or hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose. When added to an aqueous solvent, the paraformaldehyde can dissolve in alkaline solution, and depolymerizes into a formaldehyde solution containing a stabilizer. Optionally a second member of the buffer pair or another buffer or pH adjuster can be used. The stabilized depolymerized formaldehyde solution is then ready for use, or can be modified by addition of other substances, such as sodium phosphate monobasic monohydrate. Additionally, an additional buffer may be included in the granular mixture to increase the rate at which the solid dissolves and depolymerizes.
Abstract:
Algal defacement of coated and non-coated porous masonry and wood construction materials is prevented by pre-treatment of the construction material with an aqueous composition of a copolymer that releases 2-propenal (acrolein) over time.
Abstract:
Spider silks and other natural silks are proteinaceous fibers composed largely of non-essential amino acids. Orb-web spinning spiders have as many as seven sets of highly specialized glands that produce up to seven different types of silk. Each silk protein has a different amino acid composition, mechanical property, and function. The physical properties of a silk fiber are influenced by the amino acid sequence, spinning mechanism, and environmental conditions in which they are produced. The present invention provides composition and methods for producing fibers comprising spider silk and synthetic polymers from electrospinning processes. Synthetic fiber blends and methods for preparing such fibers with spider silk proteins and synthetic and polymers are disclosed.
