Abstract:
The invention presents a composition, a method and a use for a novel surface treatment approach for fiber based substrates, where the surface characteristics of the fiber material can be regulated. The method is based on a production of a nanocoating, utilizing controllably thin and possible self-organizing polymer materials, in conjunction of fiber substrate. As the advantageous applications areas of the invention, can be mentioned a regulation of adhering and impregnation of the surfaces of fibrous substrates.
Abstract:
A more roll-stable double-sided adhesive tape assembly that comprises a double-sided tape having a pressure sensitive adhesive ("PSA") on each side thereof and one or more release liners, including such release liners that are more easily and efficiently removeable in order to apply the adhesive tape.
Abstract:
Articles comprising: (1) a sheet having a first surface and a second surface and (2) an separation layer on at least a portion of the first surface, wherein the separation layer comprising (a) a binder layer with particles entrained therein and (b) an overcoat. Also methods for making such articles and methods for using such articles.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a release material formed by irradiating a release material precursor having a shear storage modulus of about 1x10 to about 3x10 Pa at 20 DEG C and a frequency of 1 Hz, wherein the release material has a contact angle of 15 DEG or more, measured using a mixed solution of methanol and water (volume ratio: 90/10) having a wet tension of 25.4 mN/m. The release material of the present invention has improved anchoring to certain substrates, ensuring relatively low release strength from certain pressure-sensitive adhesives, particularly even after the exposure to a high temperature. Thus, the release materials are capable of allowing the pressure-sensitive adhesive to maintain stable residual adhesion strength.
Abstract:
Water-activatable, linerless adhesive articles and related methods are described. The adhesive articles utilize a dry, non-tacky protective layer for protecting the adhesive layer from contamination and therefore do not require a release liner. The protective layer includes at least one of amorphous polyvinyl alcohol and poly(ethylene oxide). The adhesive articles are bonded to a substrate by applying a polar solvent, such as water, to the protective layer, which mix to form a tacky material. The tacky material forms a weak, temporary bond with the substrate and allows the adhesive articles to be repositioned on the substrate. The tacky material gradually pools together at the substrate/adhesive article interface to expose the underlying adhesive layer. The exposed adhesive layer then forms a permanent bond with the substrate.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a waterproofing membrane that comprises a carrier sheet, a pressure sensitive adhesive layer on one surface of the carrier sheet, and a protective coating layer on the adhesive layer. The protective coating layer comprises a highly reflective protective coating layer operative to bond to concrete cast against it, particularly one that is produced from an aqueous coating comprising an acrylic emulsion, a filler, and a white pigment. The pigment volume concentration of the filler plus white pigment is greater than or equal to 55% by volume. The protective coating layer protects the membrane against weather exposure, tolerates foot traffic and strongly adheres to concrete cast against it. Also disclosed is a waterproofing membrane comprising a carrier sheet, a pressure sensitive adhesive layer, a protective coating layer, and a highly releasable bonding layer. The preferred highly releasable bonding layer comprises nanoscale silica and a binder.
