Abstract:
A cooling tank (1) for the thermal treatment of a head (20) of a rail, comprising a container (1') defining a longitudinal symmetry plane (X) and adapted to be filled with a cooling liquid wherein the head (20) to be thermally treated can be at least partly immersed parallel to the symmetry plane (X), said container (1') having a bottom (8) with a single row of holes (23), arranged at said symmetry plane (X), for generating cooling fluid flows in said container (1'), wherein the container (1') is equipped with a pair of first longitudinal bulkheads (13, 14) arranged symmetrically with respect to the symmetry plane (X), wherein said first longitudinal bulkheads (13, 14) have a respective upper concave-shaped stretch (6, 7) with respect to the symmetry plane (X), and wherein the upper stretches (6, 7) are separated from each other by a distance greater than the width of the rail head (20), so as to define an area of the container (1') adapted to house the rail head (20) at least partly.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A cooling tank for the thermal treatment of the head of rails, whose frame allows obtaining a stable and on average uniform flow of the cooling fluid which touches the head of the immersed rail along the entire tank, with the continuous exchange of the fluid so as to optimize the cooling speed of the head of the rail.
Abstract:
A process and device are disclosed for quenching workpieces (18). The workpieces (18) are exposed to a flow (26) of quenchant (12). The workpieces (18) and the quenchant (12) are reversibly moved in relation to each other. For that purpose, a first conveyor for the quenchant (12), in particular a pump (44), and a second conveyor, in particular a roller conveyor with transport rollers (16) for the workpieces (18), are designed with reversible transport directions.
Abstract:
A high speed quenching assembly (1) for metal products, comprising: an absorption chiller (5), designed to be supplied by fumes coming from processing of the metal products themselves and to cool a cooling liquid; a heat exchanger (3), designed to cool a current of air by means of the cooling liquid; conduction means, designed to convey the cooling liquid from the absorption chiller (5) to the heat exchanger (3); a quenching chamber (2), designed to house the metal products to be quenched; and further conduction means, designed to convey the cooled air from the heat exchanger (3) to the quenching chamber (1).
Abstract:
A cooling unit, a heating-cooling operation including a cooling unit, a rod or wire manufacturing system, a method for manufacturing a rod or wire, a method for heat treating of a rod or wire, a method for treating metal, a steel rod or steel wire, and a treated metal having an improved tensile strength are disclosed. The cooling unit includes at least one adaptable quenching zone and at least one adaptable soaking zone. The at least one adaptable quenching zone is capable of quenching to a soaking temperature. The at least one adaptable soaking zone is capable of maintaining substantially the soak temperature.
