The present invention relates to a catalyser for vehicles which internal combustion engines, especially for the catalytic cleansing of exhaust gases with high proportions of hydrocarbons, consisting of a jacket pipe (1) in which there are metal foils at least partly coated with a catalytically active agent, in which the metal foils are arranged near the inner surface (3) of the jacket pipe (1) and the major part of the cross sectional area of the jacket pipe (1) has no metal foils with catalytically active agent. The metal foils (2) may be structured, and especially corrugated and/or perforated (5), at least in partial regions. In addition, a catalyser assembly with two catalysers fitted one behind the other on the exhaust-gas-flow side is provided.

The invention provides a titanium material improved in the resistance to high-temperature oxidation at high temperatures exceeding 800°C; and engine exhaust pipes made of the material. The invention relates to a titanium alloy which contains 0.15 to 2% by mass of Si and has an Al content controlled to be less than 0.30% by mass and which has an equiaxial structure of a mean grain size of 15µm or above. The alloy can be further improved in the resistance to high-temperature oxidation at higher temperatures exceeding 800°C, i.e., at 850°C by employing suitable means such as addition of Nb, Mo and/or Cr together with Si, equiaxed grain coarsening, formation of acicular structure, Si enrichment in the outermost surface of the alloy, and/or reduction in the content of impurities such as copper, oxygen and/or carbon.

Preferably, it is used a polyolefin matrix based thermoplastic elastomer in which is intimately dispersed a dynamically vulcanised and EPDM based elastomeric phase.

Die Erfindung beschreibt ein Verfahren zur Herstellung isolierter Körper, welche mit einer Temperatur- und/oder Schallisolation versehen werden und auf die Oberfläche des Körpers eine Schicht aus Isoliermaterial durch Wickeln aufgebracht und auf die Oberfläche des aufgewickelten Isoliermaterials eine Metallschicht aufgebracht wird. Der isolierte Körper besteht somit aus einer einen Hohlraum (1) umschliessenden Metallhülle (2), einer auf der Metallhülle (2) aufgewickelten Isolierschicht (3) sowie mindestens einer die Isolierschicht (3) bedeckenden Metallschicht (4).
