Abstract:
With the advent of industrialization, the use of cryogenic insulation in the liquefaction and transportation of natural gas, the developments of superconductors, electronic devices and medical techniques require much higher thermal insulation efficiency than usual industrial and building insulations. The present invention relates to an INSUL-CRYO Online Insulation System for improving the characteristic of cryogenic piping to vessels, equipment heat exchangers, pipes and all fittings when the plant is in operational conditions within a temperature range of +26 degree Celsius to -185 degree Celsius.
Abstract:
A helical elongate polymeric foam body is provided for insulating a water pipe, wherein the foam forming the helix has a thermal conductivity of less than 0.15 W/mK at 0°C.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for maintaining temperature in a sub-sea device, in particular in relation to fluid in the device. A material having a high latent heat on phase change is used to release latent heat to the fluid when the fluid temperature decreases towards a threshold value.
Abstract:
A wrappable, styrenic thermal insulation product for application to flexible, armoured pipe is in the form of an elongate tape of generally rectangular cross- section, optionally being provided with interlocking and/or overlapping portions so as to provide a continuous insulating layer when one or more layers of the tape are wound around the pipe. The interlocking and/or overlapping portions may be of various configurations. The tape is comprised of polystyrene or a styrene-based thermoplastic having high compressive creep resistance, high compressive strength and low thermal conductivity and may be foamed or unfoamed. A flexible, armoured pipe incorporates one or more layers of the wrappable, styrenic thermal insulation product between an outer armour layer and an outer polymeric sheath.
Abstract:
A flexible protective sleeve (10, 32, 50, 60, 70, 90, 100, 110) comprises a generally tubular wall (12, 31, 52, 62, 72) substantially enclosing a space (14) for containing an elongated member such as a bundle of wires or a pipe. The wall comprises a layer (22, 30, 54, 74) formed from flexible sheet material having a density which is no more than 50 % of the theoretical density of the material, the material also being resilient. The sleeve is manufactured by a method which comprises winding at least one strip (20, 36, 56, 64, 76, 80) of said flexible sheet material of substantially constant thickness and width along the length of the strip into the shape of a helix of substantially constant diameter, the method also comprising fixing said strip in its helical form.
Abstract:
Improved pipe-coating materials (10) and methods, and improved coated pipes (30) formed thereby, in which a thermally insulating coating is formed from a strip of striated insulating material (10), such that individual bars (16) of said insulating material are isolated from one another and encapsulated by water-impermeable barriers in the finished coating, whereby water ingress into any one bar of said material will be restricted thereto, thereby allowing the use of materials, including open-celled foams, which would otherwise be vulnerable to water penetration. Also disclosed are means for improving impact resistance, improved methods of forming striated insulating materials and improved means for tensioning strip-like insulating materials as they are helically wrapped upon a pipe or the like.
Abstract:
A duct liner arranged in a roll including an insulation layer having a first face surface and a second face surface that is opposed to and spaced apart from the first face surface and a fiberglass mat facing disposed on the first face surface, such that the majority of the first face surface is covered by the facing, wherein the fiberglass mat facing is not disposed on the second face surface, and wherein the duct liner is rolled such that the fiberglass mat and first face surface is radially outward of the second face surface.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to an ordinary concrete and/or a high strength concrete having insulating properties. The concrete mixtures with or without insulating properties, are embedding nano-aerogel tape insulating material. The insulating properties of the concrete mixture may be obtained by the inclusion of supplementary bodies made of an inorganic material such as glass-spheres, expanded clay aggregate such as Leca®, nano-tubes and other inorganic materials, or by the inclusion of supplementary bodies made of a polymeric material such as expandable polystyrene (EPS), polyurethane (PUR), foamed polypropylene (PP) or other foamed insulation material. Tailoring different combinations of concrete, insulating concrete and nano aerogel tape insulation ensures the right incompressible combination of weight, strength, and insulation for flow assurance in any pipeline on/offshore. The invention further relates to a method of applying the concrete mixture and the nano-gel insulating tape to a surface thereby obtaining a multi layered structure.
