Abstract:
A method for directly determining model parameters for a machining process includes the steps of providing a system having a machining tool and a workpiece, and machining the workpiece using the machining tool, wherein the machining induces motions in the machining tool or the workpiece. The motions are men measured. System characteristic multipliers (eigenvalues) are estimated from the motions, The eigenvalues are then related to results of at least one an analytical method or theoretical model to obtain a set of process model parameters.

A method is provided for invoking condition monitoring among a plurality of machines, comprising establishing a network of automated local experts at generally fixed locations and interconnected by at least one network connection ,configuring each of the local experts to receive vibration data from at least one of the plurality of machines which is located in relative physical proximity thereto and configuring each of the local experts to analyze the received vibration data and to diagnose a condition of the machine providing the received vibration data based on the received vibration, and configuring each of the local experts to transmit diagnostic information relating to the condition of the respective machines via the at least one network connection.
Abstract:
The invention has utility generally for monitoring any part for severance of the part. The invention is specifically useful for monitoring severance of a tension blade in a tension blade grid (140). For general monitoring of a part, the apparatus has wireless connection between the sensing unit (110) and the control unit (130). The wireless connection is achieved with a transmit/receive unit (120) using radiofrequency power transfer for electrical power and using infrared transmitters (119a) and receivers (119b) for signal transfer. For food processing, specifically for a vegetable cutting method employing at least one tension blade in a first tension blade grid through which vegetables are passed for cutting the vegetables wherein if the at least one tension blade is severed during the cutting, the invention provides for diverting the vegetables to a second tension blade grid.
