Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for combining a first Optical Character Recognition (OCR) (12) and a second OCR (100). The first OCR (12) is run first on an image of string of characters (11). Its output (13) (first identified characters, positions of the characters and likelihood parameters of the characters) is used to generate a first graph (16). Segmentation points related to the positions of the first identified characters (14) are used as input by the second OCR (100) performing a combined segmentation and classification on the image of string of characters (11). The output (17) (second identified characters, positions of the characters and likelihood parameters of the characters) of the second OCR (100) is used to update (20) the first graph (16) to generate a second graph (21) that combines the output (13) of the first OCR (12) with the output (17) of the second OCR (100). Decision models are then used to modify (22) the weights of paths in the second graph (21) to generate a third graph (23). A best path is determined (24) on the third graph (23) to obtain the identification (25) of the characters present in the image of string of characters (11).
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and computer program products are provided for the recognition of input of multiple objects into a computing device, wherein the computing device has a processor and at least one application for recognizing the input under control of the processor. The application is configured to determine at least one geometrical feature of a plurality of elements of the input, and compare the determined at least one geometrical feature with at least one predetermined geometrical threshold to determine a positive or negative result. If the comparison yields a negative result, the application considers the elements as belonging to one object in the recognition of the input. If the comparison yields a positive result, the application considers the elements as belonging to multiple objects in the recognition of the input.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for generating writing data by obtaining data generation information in an electronic device are provided. A method for inputting data in the electronic device includes displaying an attribute of the writing data by detecting a first input, checking a type of the writing data by detecting a second input, and determining output writing data, and displaying the output writing data according to the attribute of the writing data. The attribute of the writing data includes at least one of a position of the writing data to generate, a length, an angle, and a vertex of a line of the writing data.
Abstract:
Abstract:
An interactive device that allows a user to create and interact with selectable items written on a surface. The present invention provides a user with an interface that replaces an electronic display with any surface, such as a piece of paper. The user may create user-written selectable items on the surface that execute associated functions. The user-written selectable items are persistent on the surface, allowing a user to execute functions associated with different selectable items throughout operation of the interactive device. By allowing a user to interact directly with a piece of paper, the present invention provides a unique user interface with an interactive device that provides the user with increased flexibility with regard to creation of user-written selectable items and execution of functions associated with these items.
Abstract:
Computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions distinguish the script type of at least one portion of a writing input. A sub-word of a writing line of a handwritten document is identified and is processed to determine the writing style. The writing line is consequently associated with a script type. The script type of a writing line is determined from the script types of the sub-words in the writing line. When the number of sub-words having a first script type is greater than the number of sub-words having a second script type, the script type of the writing line is categorized as the first script type. A script analyzer determines a writing style of at least one sub-word and selects one of a plurality of neural networks to categorize the script type of a writing line.
