Abstract:
Methods and systems for receiving an authorization request associated with a transaction, the authorization request including a payment account number and a card verification value; determining the authorization request is to be processed as having a dynamic card verification value; automatically bypassing, in response to the determination that the authorization request is to be processed as having a dynamic card verification value, at least one card verification process to be used in a processing of the authorization request; and sending the authorization request to a card verifier to verify the card verification value matches a dynamic card verification value of record. Some methods and systems include transmitting the authorization request to a payment network for authorization of the transaction; receiving an authorization response in reply to the transmitted authorization request; and providing an indication of the authorization response to a merchant associated with the transaction.
Abstract:
Abstract:
System and methods for using an electronic stored-value card are provided. A system comprises an electronic stored-value card, and a digital sticker associated with the electronic stored-value card. The digital sticker is configured to convey transaction information of the electronic storedvalue card to a processor or an issuer of the electronic stored-value card. A computer implemented method comprises associating a digital sticker with an electronic stored-value card, and conveying a transaction information of the electronic stored-value card to a processor or an issuer of the electronic stored-value card. A system comprises a memory configured to display information about a stored-value card and to initiate a registration of the stored-value card into an electronic wallet.
Abstract:
A method and system for eliminating a need for coins in cash transactions in most currencies includes a comparison of a sum of a fractional dollar amount of an original transaction amount of a cash transaction between a merchant and a consumer plus a beginning value of a consumer storage device to a value of either 1.00 or 2.00. The amount of the value depends on whether a sum of credits and debits incurred by the merchant is greater or less than or equal to a sum of per transaction fees. The original transaction amount is decreased or increased to the next whole dollar amount, thereby providing a new transaction amount, if it is determined that the sum of the fractional dollar amount of the original transaction amount plus the beginning value of the consumer storage device is greater or less than, respectively, the value assigned.
Abstract:
A system and method for facilitating a value exchange using a universal identification card includes a payment exchange intermediary system server, a universal identification card having integrated identification information and a financial transaction card linked to the universal identification. The method encodes email account information on the universal identification card. The method links the financial transaction card with the universal identification card, engages the financial transaction card host provider via a communication network and links the identification of the card user with the universal identification card to facilitate the value exchange. The universal identification card is registered by associating the universal identification card with the financial transaction card.
Abstract:
A method is provided for conducing on-line purchases using a mobile device. A first party visits a second party on-line entity. The first party accesses a second party on-line entity. The first party is already registered with the payment service or becomes registered prior to the conclusion of completing a transaction. The mobile device is configured to communicate with the payment service. The first party considers conducting a transaction with the second party on-line entity. The second party on-line entity is registered with the payment service, or in response to the first party's desire to transact with the second party on-line entity, the second party on-line entity becomes registered with the payment service. The first party enters personal identifying information that is sent to the payment service. In response, the first party receives a push notification to the first party's mobile device that enables the first party to complete the transaction with the second party on-line entity.
Abstract:
A read head system has a housing and a read positioned in the housing with a slot for swiping a magnetic stripe of a financial transaction card with the slot utilized to enable a financial transaction between a buyer and seller. The read head reads data on the magnetic stripe and produces a signal indicative of data stored on the magnetic stripe. The read head includes an output jack configured to be coupled to at least one of a audio jack or microphone port of a mobile device. The read head provides the signal to the mobile device. The slot is oriented and sized to reduce torque applied on the read head as the financial transaction card is swiped through slot in order to maintain accuracy and reliability of the data read by the read head. Decoding of the signal is performed in the mobile device. The decoding includes determining pulses in the signal and converting at least some of the pulses to characters.
Abstract:
A new approach is proposed that contemplates systems and methods to enable an individual to complete a financial transaction by swiping a magnetic stripe card through a card reader connected to a mobile device. The size of the card reader is miniaturized to be portable for connection with the mobile device. The card reader is configured to reliably read data encoded in a magnetic strip of the card with minimum error in a single swipe and provide a signal that corresponds to the data read to the mobile device, which then decodes the incoming signal from the card reader and acts as a point-of-sale device to complete the financial transaction. Such an approach enables a person to become either a micro-merchant (payee) or a buyer/customer (payer) without having to purchase expensive card reader devices or software.
Abstract:
A card reader device for reading a card having data stored on a magnetic stripe incorporated into the card is disclosed in which the card reader device comprises a read head for passing a magnetic stripe of a card by to read data stored on a magnetic stripe and for producing a signal indicative of data stored on a magnetic stripe, a signal setting device for setting an amplitude of the signal indicative of data stored on a magnetic stripe, and an output jack adapted to be inserted into a microphone input associated with a cell phone for providing the signal indicative of data stored on a magnetic stripe to a cell phone. Data stored on the card and sensed by the card reader device is decoded by components such as a microphone amplifier, an analog to digital converter, and a microprocessor already resident in a cell phone.
Abstract:
A wireless mobile communications apparatus reads removable cards and can communicate an account corresponding to the removable card in order to conduct a wireless transaction with a merchant on the account with the wireless mobile communications apparatus. A total currency amount for the transaction, and remaining balance in the account after the transaction, can be displayed on a display screen of the wireless mobile communications apparatus. The removable card can be a gift card bearing a magnetic strip having an identifier for the account encoded thereto that will be read when inserted into the wireless mobile communications apparatus which can be a cellular telephone or Web enabled portable device. The magnetic strip gift card can be substantially composed of paper so as to be intended for disposable after use.
