    Abstract: An air-cooled ignition lead for use with aircraft engines to conduct high voltage ignition pulses between an exciter and an igniter. The ignition lead includes a center conductor covered by an insulation jacket for electrical isolation. Radially spaced outwardly from the insulation jacket is a flexible conduit that has sufficient structural integrity to resist collapsing inwardly. The insulation jacket and conduit define an airflow path therebetween that is used for conducting air through the lead. An innerbraid is located over and supported by an outer surface of the flexible conduit, and this location of the innerbraid prevents it from collapsing over time and obstructing the airflow passage that extends on the inner side of the flexible conduit. The innerbraid can be used as a return path conductor that provides a return current path and/or EMI shielding. Covering the innerbraid is an outerbraid to protect the lead against external damage.

    Abstract: An ignition wire includes a conductive core, an insulation layer surrounding the core, an insulating jacket surrounding the insulation layer and a coating layer which is grafted and bonded to at least a portion of an exterior surface of the insulating jacket. The coating layer and insulating jacket are preferably formed of silicone materials. The coating layer is operative to provide enhanced resistance to heat and abrasion, as well as other benefits to the exterior surface of the insulating jacket. The coating layer may be transparent and provide an aesthetically pleasing clear coat, or may be tinted or colored to produce various other cosmetic or decorative characteristics to the outer surface of the ignition wire. The coating layer provides these enhanced protections without the diminishing electrical or mechanical performance properties of either the insulation layer or the insulating jacket. The coating layer is also adapted to provide protection to a cosmetic layer which may be applied to the exterior surface of the insulating jacket.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an ignition cable for internal combustion engines, comprising an electrical conductor disposed therein and an external insulation. According to the invention, the conductor is interrupted in a separation point.     Abstract: A silicone coating material is operative to graft a silicone polymer coating on an ignition wire.
