Embodiments of the invention provide a processorless finite-state-machine-based system-on-chip solution for a network device to communicate across Internet or a large network. The data communication part of the network device can be compromised to use much simpler protocols. However, an Internet device requires configurations to communicate adequately. Such configurations in a commercially available device need to come from other node on the network by an automatic configuration protocol and such configuration communication part has to be implemented processorlessly too. The overall result is a chip for an Internet device that saves power and cost by eliminating components for a processor system. It is particularly useful in Internet-of-Thing applications and for hooking up appliances and sensors to Internet.

Devices, systems, and methods are described for allowing rules that are applied to one device to be applied to another device based on a user's interaction with only the devices. A rule-copy action, such as simultaneous shaking of the two devices, proximity of the two devices to each other, and/or the relative positions of the two devices, may be detected at one of the devices (e.g., a first device to which the user desires the rules or a copy of the rules to apply). In response to the rule-copy action, another device (e.g., a second device configured to operate according to the at least one rule) may be identified. The at least one rule may then be caused to be applied to the first device in response to detection of the rule-copy action, so as to configure the first device to operate according to the at least one rule.

If the communications device has not been initialized and moved upon implementing the primary initialization technique, an additional initialization technique is selected from the set list of initialization techniques and implemented to initialize and move the communications device.

The method also includes determining a failure associated with the media server, and activating a failover media server to receive the media stream based on the failure. The method further includes replicating configuration data associated with the media server that experienced the failure. The configuration data can be provisioned in a suitable database. The failover media server is configured using the configuration data.

The present invention provides methods and device for managing resources in a wireless communication network. In one embodiment, a MAC superframe format for a wireless communication network includes a beacon frame including beacon information for synchronizing devices in the wireless communication network and defining structure of the MAC superframe, where the beacon information includes superframe structure information and synchronization information. The MAC superframe format also includes at least one multi-node connection frame substantially following the beacon frame and having device specific information and network specific information for allocating resources to one or more of the devices and/or providing network configuration parameters to the devices.

A network and connection provisioning framework for configuring and provisioning multiple aspects of network connectivity. The framework may comprise a unified configuration interface that enables an administrator to configure multiple different types of network connectivity. A single configuration file comprising settings for multiple aspects of network connectivity may be generated based on preferences entered by a system administrator, or by exporting current settings from a particular computing device. Global configuration policies or other configuration settings that span multiple types of network connectivity may be also created and stored in one or more configuration files. Stand-alone media managers and/or plug-in modules may implement one or more standardized application programming interface functions so that they may interoperate with the network and connection provisioning framework. The standardized API may be used to ensure that configuration information is handled and stored in a standardized manner by different media managers and/or plug-in modules.
