摘要:
A rotary fiberglass needled glass insulation product (100) is provided. The formation of the needled insulation product may be conducted in a continuous in-line process in which the fibers are rotary formed, a binder is sprayed (20) onto the hot fibers, the fibers are collected onto a conveyor (45) and formed into a fiberglass pack (40), the fiberglass pack is passed through the oven (60), and the cured insulation blanket is passed through the needling apparatus (95). The needled insulation product may have a thickness of less than about 0.75 inch (1.905 cm). The reduction in thickness and increased density caused by the needling process permits the production of lower thickness and higher density final insulation products. Thin insulation products made in accordance with the present invention can be manufactured using current manufacturing lines, thereby saving time and money. The needled insulation product may be utilized in household appliances, water heaters, and HVAC equipment.

The floor covering includes multiple layers including a non-woven base layer, a VAE precoat applied to the non-woven base layer and overlaid by a first PVC Layer. A fiberglass mat is applied over the first PVC layer and a second PVC layer is applied over the mat. A woven PVC layer is laminated by heat and pressure to the underlying second PVC layer. The woven PVC layer comprises monofilament or multifilament cores, preferably but not limited to, polyester filaments overlaid by a PVC coating.

An insulation product contains a mixed layer of textile fibers and of rotary and/or flame attenuated fibers. A process for manufacturing the insulation product includes passing fibrous bundles of textile fibers and of rotary and/or flame attenuated fibers together through an aparatus that divides the textile fibers into segments and that mixes the textile fiber segments with the rotary and/or flame attenuateed fibers. The bundles of rotary and/or flame attenuated fibers can be in the form of specially manfactured mats and/or can be production scraps. The resulting mixture of fibers is formed into a non - woven batt, mat, blanket, or board. The process provides a mixed fiber product, with an improved combination of thermal and acoustic insulating performance and adequate strength, at a low production cost.

An inorganic fiber containing silica and magnesia as the major fiber components and which further includes an intended iron oxide additive to improve the dimensional stability of the fiber. The inorganic fiber exhibits good thermal insulation performance at 1400°C and greater, retains mechanical integrity after exposure to the use temperature, and which remains non-durable in physiological fluids. Also provided are thermal insulation product forms comprising a plurality of the inorganic fibers, methods of preparing the inorganic fiber and of thermally insulating articles using thermal insulation prepared from a plurality of the inorganic fibers.
