Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide for methods, systems, and apparatuses, including computer-readable storage media, for lipid detection by identifying fibrotic caps in medical images of blood vessels. A method includes receiving one or more input images of a blood vessel and processing the one or more input images using a machine learning model trained to identify locations of fibrotic caps in blood vessels. The machine learning model is trained using a plurality of training images each annotated with locations of one or more fibrotic caps. A method includes identifying and characterizing fibrotic caps of lipid pools based on differences in radial signal intensities measured at different locations of an input image. A system can generate one or more output images having segments that are visually annotated representing predicted locations of fibrotic caps covering lipidic plaques.

Abstract: A co-registration system includes a processor circuit that co-registers intravascular data and user annotations to locations along a guidewire shown in an x-ray image. The processor circuit receives, from an x-ray imaging device, x-ray images of a blood vessel while anintravascular catheter moves through the blood vessel along a guidewire. The processor circuit receives, from the catheter, intravascular data representative of the blood vessel while the catheter moves through the blood vessel. The processor circuit co-registers the intravascular data to locations along the guidewire shown in the x-ray image received from the x-ray imaging device. The processor circuit also generates and co-registers annotations such as bookmarks to the guidewire.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to a vessel assessment system configured to image a target vessel and determine which vascular access device (VAD) to use to access the target vessel while remaining within one or more insertion parameters of percentage vessel occupancy, and dwell length given a predetermined range of insertion angles. The system can superimpose a target vessel sizing ring to measure a diameter or cross-sectional area, or to measure a depth of the target vessel. Further, the system can provide a list of VAD' s that can access the target vessel within one or more insertion parameters. The system can provide an icon representing the VAD superimposed over the target vessel to provide a visual representation of the vascular access device within the target vessel.

Abstract: An apparatus (106) includes a processing pipeline (124) with a stationary structure motion corrector (204), a stationary structure remover (206) and a flowing structure detector (208). The stationary structure motion corrector is configured to motion correct stationary structure in a series of ultrasound images for subject motion, wherein the series of ultrasound images includes the stationary structure and flowing structure. The stationary structure remover is configured to remove the stationary structure from the motion corrected series of ultrasound images thereby producing flow images of the flowing structure. The flowing structure detector is configured to detect peaks of flow of the flowing structure in the flow images over time to generate images of detected flow peaks. The images of detected flow peaks are accumulated over time to generate a super resolution ultrasound image.

Abstract: The disclosed total blood volume determination systems and methods provide for a faster, simpler, more practical, less invasive, and more flexibly deployable device for blood volume measurement. These systems and methods are based on measuring, in a patient's bloodstream, the resonance of an agent injected into the circulating blood that allows for assessment of the agent's concentration and determination of the total blood volume. The agent may take a variety of forms, including an agent that is detectable via a non-invasive technique such as ultrasound. The agent may be measured over time and fitting the measurement data to provide an accurate determination of total blood volume.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are ultrasound systems and methods for sustained spatial attention. For example, an ultrasound system can include a console and an ultrasound probe. A display of the console can be configured to display ultrasound images and one or more still or moving images of a procedural field. The ultrasound probe can include a camera integrated into the ultrasound probe for recording the one-or-more still or moving images of the procedural field with a depth of field including a distal end of a probe head and a field of view including a spatial region about the probe head. With the one-or-more still or moving images displayed along with the ultrasound images, a clinician need not switch his or her spatial attention between spatial regions such as the procedural field and the display quite as frequently as with existing ultrasound systems, thereby sustaining spatial attention in one or more spatial regions.
