Abstract: Vom natürlichen Sprunggelenk des Menschen ist durch mathematische Berechnungen und geometrische Messungen wissenschaftlich gesichert, dass ein sogenanntes instantes Rotationszentrum mit annähernd punktförmiger Ausbildung vorliegt. Das obere Sprunggelenk selbst gewährt einen polyaxialen, aber beschränkten Bewegungsumfang. Beim fortgeschrittenen Verschleiß (Arthrose) des oberen Sprunggelenkes wird eine Endoprothese benötigt, die ebenso polyaxial wie das natürliche Sprunggelenk funktioniert und diese Kräfte drehmomentfrei durch das Sprunggelenk überträgt. Die kugelsegmentförmige talare Endoprothese des oberen Sprunggelenkes realisiert ein drehmomentfreies Rotationszentrum, lässt sich deckungsgleich mit dem natürlichen Rotationszentrum implantieren und erlaubt die polyaxialen Bewegungen des natürlichen Sprunggelenkes. Durch seitliche Segmentzuschnitte hält die Prothese bei jeder Bewegung Kontakt zur verbliebenen ossären Sprunggelenk-Gabel und besitzt dadurch eine Eigenstabilität. Diese reduziert den möglichen Bewegungsumfang einer Kugelform auf den physiologischen Bewegungsumfang.

Abstract: A humeral implant is provided. The implant includes a humeral stem (5300) including a plurality of fins (5350). At least one fin comprises a serrated bottom edge (5351, 5352). A radial distance between an inner bottom edge of the at least one fin and a centerline (C) of the humeral implant increases along a distal length of extension of the at least one fin. At least the serrated bottom edge of the at least one fin is configured to cut into and compact bone of of the metaphysis of a humerus toward relatively denser cancellous bone of a peripheral portion of the humerus when press-fit therein, thereby providing sufficient press-fitting for cementless fixation of the humeral stem into the humerus. Related kits and methods are also provided.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an implant component assembly (1) for a joint replacement. The assembly comprises an implant component (10), the implant component including an interface part (20) for attaching another implant component (50) and an assembly channel (11). The assembly further comprises an assembly screw (30) for securing the other implant component to the implant component, the assembly screw having a longitudinal axis (L), a screw head (31), and a screw shank (32) and being insertable into the assembly channel. A screw retention unit (40) of the assembly is configured for keeping the assembly screw within the assembly channel and allowing rotation of the assembly screw about the longitudinal axis.

Abstract: An anterior lumbar interbody fusion device comprising a superior component, an inferior component, and a locking mechanism. The superior component bottom side and the inferior component top side oppose each other when these are received in the intervertebral space whereby their external sides abut against the respective vertebra, thereby coupling force between the latter. The components inter-engage with each other whereby they are constrained to move in an anterior-posterior direction relative to each other and resistance is presented to movement relative to each other in each of a direction of separation and a direction orthogonal to the anterior- posterior direction and to the direction of separation. The locking mechanism allows for relative movement of the components in the anterior-posterior direction which increases an extent of their overlap and presents resistance to movement of the at least one of the component in the anterior-posterior direction which decreases an extent of their overlap, for instance with a mechanism such as protrusions shaped to engage with set of recesses and sprung cantilever beams forming a ratchet mechanism. Optionally, the fusion device may comprise or lack a core component received between said superior and inferior components.

Abstract: A humeral implant component (1, 28) connectable to another humeral implant component (2), the humeral implant component (1, 28) comprising: a longitudinal axis (L), a first end (3) and a second end (4), the first end (3) and the second end (4) opposing each other along the longitudinal axis (L) of the humeral implant component (1, 28), and an interface part (5a, 5b) for connecting the humeral implant component (1, 28) to the other humeral implant component (2), wherein the interface part (5a, 5b) is tapered along the longitudinal axis (L) in a direction from the second end (4) to the first end (3), the interface part (5a, 5b) being engageable with a tapered interface part (6) of the other humeral implant component (2) to form a tapered connection between the humeral implant component (1, 28) and the other humeral implant component (2), wherein the humeral implant component (1, 28) further comprises a through hole (7) extending along the longitudinal axis (L) for locking the tapered connection by a longitudinal fastener (8).
