Abstract: Tibial inserts and tibial extensions coupled to a sensor, and systems including such devices, can generate data and analysis based on that data, which may be used to identify and/or address problems associated with the implanted medical device, including incorrect placement of the device, unanticipated degradation of the device, and undesired movement of the device. Also provided are tibial inserts and tibial extensions coupled to a sensor, and devices and methods to address problems that have been identified with an implanted medical device.

Abstract: A system or method for bioprinting bone graft provides obtaining an image of the patient's oral facial area, and viewed with the image viewing software. A restoratively driven dental implant treatment plan is created to restore the patient's missing dentition. The restoratively driven treatment plan is created. A physical exam, review of a patient's desires and expectations, review of imaging, acquisition and review of patient photographs and intraoral digital impressions. The imaging and digital impressions are aligned, via software to create a virtual representation. The anticipated final implant retained dentures, unitary implant crowns, or implant bridges, are planned to provide optimal esthetic and functional results. Dental implants are then planned for prosthetic anchors. Bone deficiencies are evaluated and if areas of boney deficiency are present, a patient specific bone graft is designed to restore said deficient areas. Once designed, it may be printed via additive manufacturing.

Abstract: A bellows shaped spinal implant, comprising an upper plate having an upper opening therethrough, a lower plate having a lower opening therethrough, and aa bellows shaped shell extending between and joining the upper plate and the lower plate. The bellows shaped shell is formed of titanium or an alloy comprising titanium and includes a wall extending continuously therearound that defines a hollow interior in communication with the upper opening and the lower opening. The wall has a thickness in the range of 0.5 mm to 1.0 mm to provide for radiographic imaging through the wall. The wall is angled or curved inwardly or outwardly between the upper plate and the lower plate to provide stiffness that mimics the stiffness properties of a similarly sized polyetheretherketone (PEEK) implant.

Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a three-dimensional implant for tissue reconstruction or tissue augmentation for insertion into a patient. The implant comprises a plurality of strands forming a three-dimensional structure, which comprises a plurality of hollow channels. Each hollow channel comprises a plurality of sidewalls. A sidewall comprises a plurality of strand segments and a plurality of gaps arranged altematingly so that a gap is formed between adjacent strand segments of the sidewall. The gap comprises a gap length (gl) and a resting gap height (gh). The plurality of gaps are reversibly expandable gaps. Adjacent strand segments comprise a deflection capability (δ) based on an object to be received by the reversibly expandable gap. A radius (R) of the plurality of strands and a gap lengths (gl) of a reversibly expandable gap is based on a yield strength (δyield), the elastic modulus (E) of the material and a deflection capability δ of the adjacent strand segments forming the reversibly expandable gap.

Abstract: A method for growing a channeled spinal implant in situ, using a surgical additive-manufacturing system having a dispensing component, and implants formed thereby. The method can include positioning the dispensing component at least partially within an interbody space, between a first patient vertebra and a second patient vertebra, and maneuvering, in an applying step, the dispensing component within the interbody space and depositing, by the dispensing component, printing material on or adjacent the first vertebra. The applying step includes maneuvering the dispensing component and applying the printing material selectively to form an outer surface of the implant having a channel opening and to form an interior of the implant having at least one elongate channel extending to the opening.

Abstract: The present invention relates to implantable medical devices (dental and orthopedic) (osseointegrable implants) textured by the additive manufacturing process. Such implants are prepared in such a way as to comprise a larger surface area of contact between implant/adjacent tissues, porous microstructure with complex geometry with controlled and diversified pore size, which confers several technical advantages. In addition, the present invention relates to the process of preparing said implants and/or screws with an optimized structure for accelerating osseointegration. Finally, the present invention refers to the use of said implants as carriers of drugs or cells in order to treat the site, promote its healing, tissue regeneration or promote cell growth.

Abstract: Devices (200) to repair bone defects prevent the formation of depressions and palpable tissue at bone repair sites. The devices can be used to repair burr holes in the cranium, providing an improved cosmetic result that reduces or eliminates functional handicaps that can result from combing and hairdressing. The devices are secured in bone defects with filament elements (210), by expanding the device inside the bone defect, or by gluing. Tissue in-growth into the device regenerates bone at the defect site, and prevents the formation of depressions or palpable tissue. The devices preferably comprise a ceramic and poly-4-hydroxybutyrate or copolymer thereof, or a ceramic and poly (butylene succinate) or copolymer thereof.
