Abstract: An acetabular shell component includes a solid substrate (12), a porous outer layer (16) coupled to the solid substrate, a porous inner layer (14) coupled to the solid substrate, and an inner bearing (18) coupled to the porous inner layer. One or more adjuncts (40) extend outward from the porous outer layer. Each adjunct includes an outer surface that defines a customized patient-specific negative contour shaped to conform to a positive contour of a patient's bone. A method for manufacturing the acetabular shell component using an additive manufacturing process is also disclosed.

Abstract: An orthopaedic prosthetic system includes a plate (12) having one or more flanges (20) and an acetabular shell component (42). Each flange includes a surface configured to engage a patient's bone. The plate also includes a central ring (18) that engages a lip (54) extending from an outer surface (46) of the shell component. The ring may be mechanically attached to the lip using multiple fasteners (84). The system may include multiple plates each having a different configuration from other plates, and may also include multiple shell components each having a different configuration from other shell components. Methods for assembling and using the prosthetic system are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method of forming a composite titanium body for use in forming spinal implant interbodies includes selecting a metal alloy body, carving out a top portion and a bottom portion from the metal alloy body, and bonding a porous material to the carved-out top and bottom portions. Multiple pieces may be cut from the composite titanium body, each having a front face formed of the metal alloy, top and bottom portions formed of the porous material, and with a medial portion of the metal alloy extending from the front face to the back. Methods and devices for spinal interbodies having locking mechanisms to prevent bone screw back-out are also described.
