Abstract: Apparatus (20) for performing a joint replacement procedure comprising: a vibrator (50) configured to be coupled to a stem (120) and be excited to generate vibrations in the stem during a joint replacement operation to insert the stem into and/or to extract the stem out from a bone canal (102); a driver (30) operable to apply continuous force to the stem; and a controller (22) operable to control the vibrator and the driver to respectively generate vibrations in and apply continuous force to the stem that cooperate to insert the stem into or extract the stem out from the canal.

Abstract: Total hip or shoulder prosthesis for minimally invasive replacement of the pelvic acetabulum and the femoral head or the glenoid cavity of the scapula and the humeral head, comprising: - an acetabular/glenoid prosthesis (10) configured to be embedded in the pelvic acetabulum/glenoid cavity. - a femoral prosthesis (15) formed by o a straight metaphyseal component (16) with a ball (19) at one end for placement in the acetabular/glenoid prosthesis (10) and provided with a transverse hole (17) for the passage of o a diaphyseal nail (18) for insertion into the femoral/humeral canal. It also includes a guide (3) for femoral or humeral neck osteotomy to extract the femoral or humeral head and introducers (5, 6) in the shape of an inverted "U" of the different components of the prosthesis using aligners (55, 64) to reach and place said items without needing to see the operating zone.

Abstract: A neck trial (170) is disclosed. The neck trial has a body (182) and a neck (186). The body has an exterior surface. The neck extends away from the body along a neck axis (190). At least one first line (194) is provided on the exterior surface, which extends in a first direction parallel to an inferior-superior axis of a patient when in use. At least one second line (196) is provided on the exterior surface, which extends in a second direction parallel to a medial-lateral axis of the patient in use. The number of first lines, or the position of the first line or lines relative to the second line or lines, is indicative of an amount of offset in the medial-lateral direction caused by the neck trial. The number of second lines, or the position of the second line or lines relative to the first line or lines, is indicative of an amount of leg- length in the inferior-superior direction caused by the neck trial. A kit of parts, a trial assembly and a method of trialling a joint of a patient are also disclosed.
