Abstract: The approaches described herein can provide mitigation against the risk of one or more malfunctions of electronics of a negative pressure wound therapy device. The one or more malfunctions can include flow reverse current, flow of excessive current, liquid ingress, or inadvertent activation. The approaches described herein can provide protection against a single fault (or higher protection against more than one fault). Advantageously, mitigation against the risk of burning or otherwise causing discomfort to the patient or the risk of fire can be provided.

Abstract: In one aspect, a drug delivery device is provided herein including: a monolithic body having a plurality of fluid ducts and at least one outlet duct formed therein; a plurality of drug cartridges attached to the body, the drug cartridges each including a reservoir for accommodating at least one drug wherein, the plurality of fluid ducts is arranged to convey the drugs from the drug cartridges to the at least one outlet duct; and, a needle support spaced from the body, the needle support including a needle configured for insertion into a patient for drug delivery, the needle support including adhesive for releasable securement to a patient, wherein, the needle support is connected to the body by a flexible tether through which passes at least one fluid passageway formed to convey drug from the at least one outlet duct to the needle.

In some variations, a continuous ambulatory dialysis device may comprise a first fluid conduit configured to receive a fluid from a patient, a second fluid conduit configured to output the fluid to the patient, and an electroosmotic pump configured to pump and filter the fluid. The electroosmotic pump may be coupled between the first fluid conduit and the second fluid conduit. The electroosmotic pump may comprise a first electrode configured to adsorb urea in the fluid, a second electrode, and a porous substrate coupled therebetween.

Abstract: A Germ Eliminating Machine (GEM) having a first spheroid cavity and a second spheroid cavity coupled in series to the first spheroid cavity is set forth. The GEM is configured to pass outside air through the first spheroid cavity and into the second spheroid cavity. The GEM also includes a first UV device configured to provide UV light to the first spheroid cavity, such that UV light repeatedly reflects in the first spheroid cavity, and a second UV device configured to provide UV light to the second spheroid cavity such that UV light repeatedly reflects in the second spheroid cavity. The UV light from the first and second UV devices damage germs in the outside air that passes through the first spheroid cavity and into the second spheroid cavity.

Abstract: An applicator can include a dispenser for dispensing an amount of a therapeutic composition, which can include an amount of sugar or sugar alcohol and an amount of an alkalizing agent. In some cases, the alkalizing agent can include L-Arginine. In some cases, 75% or more of the composition by weight has a comedogenicity rating of 3 or less on a scale of 0-5. The dispenser can also have a power supply configured to provide power through a contact tip of the dispenser to provide nerve stimulation, such as using vibration, heating, cooling, and/or electrical stimulation.

Abstract: An intravenous (IV) therapy system to facilitate the insertion of a catheter or another suitable IV device into a patient may include a band made of flexible material to be secured around a limb of a patient. The IV therapy system may include a window formed through the band to provide access to the patient's body. The IV therapy system may include a tourniquet formed within the band to selectively apply a pressure against the patient's body. The IV therapy system may include a blood vessel indicator to indicate where the catheter or other suitable IV device is to be inserted.

Abstract: The present invention describes a pulmonary ventilator that is quick to manufacture for continuous ventilation support for patients with acute pneumonia. The ventilator incorporates several operating modes, highlighting the ventilation modes with pressure and volume control, as well as the pressure-regulated volume control mode and the pressure support mode for supporting spontaneous breathing. In addition to the incorporation of safety mechanisms and redundant routines that ensure the correct functioning of the developed system, the ventilator further incorporates the integration of remote connectivity through a communication and assisted control module.
