Abstract: The invention is an inhalation device for delivering an atomized mixture of liquids with a regulated mixing ratio, comprising - two reservoirs storing a liquid, - for each reservoir a piezoelectric actuator (10a, 10b) for atomizing the liquid, and a liquid transferring member being in contact with the liquid and the piezoelectric actuator (10a, 10b), and - a pressure sensor (16a, 16b) for detecting a user inhalation, - a regulating electric circuit comprising a controller (18) generating an output PWM signal having a duty cycle, and an output stage (20a, 20b) comprising - an inductor (12a, 12b) forming a resonant circuit with the piezoelectric actuator (10a, 10b), and - a switch (14a, 14b) for driving the output stage (20a, 20b) by the output PWM signal, - the mixing ratio of the atomized liquids is determined by the duty cycles of the output PWM signals.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a nebulizer comprising of a medicine cup reservoir containing an aqueous pirfenidone solution a medicine cup reservoir cap, an aerosol generator, an aerosol mixing chamber to which freshly generated aerosol resides until inhaled, a one-way inhalation valve, a mouthpiece and a one-way exhalation valve. The invention allows atmospheric pressure to be maintained inside the medicine cup reservoir during nebulization and optimizes the volume of the aerosol mixing chamber to minimize freshly generated aerosol inter-droplet collision, impaction of aerosol to the aerosol mixing chamber wall, droplet growth and/or condensation during exhalation, prior to inhalation, or during inhalation. The larger aerosol mixing chamber volume also allows the aerosol to accumulate during the exhalation phase. Despite venting producing a larger generated aerosol droplet population mean compared to the non-vented aerosol generator, The combined effect of the invention increases device output rate of respirable aerosol droplets, increases pirfenidone Cmax and AUC to improve treatment or prevention of various diseases, including disease associated with the lung, heart and kidney, including fibrosis, inflammatory conditions and transplant rejection.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an aerosol delivery device and a cartridge for an aerosol delivery device. The cartridge can comprise a body defining a reservoir and defining an aerosol pathway in fluid communication with an aerosol outlet. The cartridge can further include one or more of an air entry, a splitter configured to split air entering the air entry into a plurality of air passages, an atomizer, and an aerosol forming chamber where air from the plurality of air passages is configured to mix with vapor formed by the heater to form an aerosol. Preferably, the aerosol forming chamber can be in fluid connection with the aerosol pathway. The present disclosure further can include a control device configured to receive, power, and control aerosol formation by the cartridge.

The use determination system is configured to determine a parameter relating to airflow during a use of the inhaler by a subject. The use determination system also assigns a time to the use. The system also comprises a user interface, and a processing module. The processing module is configured to determine inhalation information from the parameter, and control the user interface to issue a notification that the inhalation information is available. The notification is issued at a notification time. The processing module is configured to implement a deliberate time delay such that the notification time is delayed relative to the time assigned to the use.

Abstract: A ventilator comprising: a housing; a gas inlet port disposed in the housing and adapted to be coupled to a gas source to receive a flow of gas; a valve assembly coupled with the gas inlet port for controlling flow of gas from the gas inlet port to a gas outlet port disposed in the housing and adapted for being coupled to a patient interface to fluidly couple the gas outlet port to the airway of a patient; a controller module disposed in the housing, the controller module comprising a controller operatively coupled with the valve assembly to control operation of the valve assembly; an airway pressure sensor positioned between the valve assembly and the patient interface to measure air flow output into flowing into the airway of the patient; wherein the pressure sensor is operatively connected to said controller module to control the operation of the valve assembly in response to changes in air flow output measured by the airway pressure sensor during use.

Abstract: A mist inhaler device (200) for generating a mist for inhalation by a user comprises a mist generator device (201) and a driver device (202). The driver device (202) is configured to drive the mist generator device (201) at an optimum frequency to maximise the efficiency of mist generation by the mist generator device (201). A liquid drug such as nicotine, a protein solution, or a medical suspension is transformed into mist by sonification using an ultrasonic transducer 215 which has a planar atomisation surface parallel to the longitudinal length of the mist generator housing. A capillary element 222 extends between a liquid chamber and the sonification chamber, and is retained by the transducer holder (210) such that a part of the capillary element is superimposed on the atomisation surface of the ultrasonic transducer.

Abstract: A method of, or system for, ventilating lungs in breathing and non-breathing patients--including applications for anesthesia--may comprise maintaining an inspiratory flow rate at an inspiratory setpoint at a low flow setting. Lung pressure in a patient may be regulated between a high pressure setpoint and a low pressure setpoint with periodic expiratory flows and continuous inspiratory flow. An expiratory control valve may be adjusted to an open position when a lung pressure is at or above a high pressure setpoint. An expiratory control valve may be adjusted to a closed position when a lung pressure is at or below a low pressure setpoint. Concurrent venting outflow and CO2 offloading through flow within the lungs may be facilitated by providing an intermittent expiratory flow to the patient while providing the continuous inspiratory flow.

Abstract: A system and method for managing a respiratory condition of a user is disclosed. The system includes an oxygen concentrator having a compression system configured to generate oxygen enriched air for delivery to the user. A physiological sensor is configured to collect physiological data of the user. The physiological data is of one or more data types. An operational sensor is configured to collect operational data of the oxygen concentrator during operation of the oxygen concentrator. The operational data is of one or more data types. A processor is configured to receive the collected physiological data and the operational data and compute a summary parameter for values of each data type. The processor is also configured to compute a health score from the summary parameter values.

Abstract: A security tag can prohibit unauthorized usage of a device or product. The device may include an electronic nicotine delivery systems ("ENDS") device, which may include aerosol delivery devices such as smoking articles that produce aerosol. The security tag can prevent usage until authorized. Attempts at usage without authorization can result in the device being unusable. The authorization may include identity confirmation or age verification.
