Abstract:
A metallic disk (10) for use with a powered hand tool to remove measured small amounts of material from the surface of a workpiece to smooth the surface thereof. Each disk (10) being formed with an array of strategically placed abrader elements (14) in which each such abrader element (14) is formed with a series of projections (38) in the nature of teeth extending inwardly from an inner wall, defining an opening, toward the edge of the abrader element (14), and being raised above the surface of the disk to engage the surface of the workpiece.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A rotary file (10) includes a body (14) having first and second ends with an outer surface comprising at least one cutting edge, a shank (12) extending from the first end of the body (14) which is adapted to be mounted in a rotary tool and a pilot (16) extending from the second end of the body (14), the pilot (16) defining an annular peripheral surface (22) with an arcuate cross-section. An apparatus (figure 7) for deburring the edges of machined features includes such a rotary file (10) and a spindle (28) that is resiliently deflectable away from a nominal axis of rotation. A method of deburring using the apparatus is disclosed wherein the rotary file (10) is moved along a preprogrammed tool-path.
Abstract:
Implement for abrasion which comprises a metal portion provided at least partially with an abrasive coating. Characteristic for such an implement according to the invention is that the abrasive coating consists of a hard surface layer (3) of another metal material than that of the metal portion and applied to the metal portion (1, 2) with the aid of an electric arc.
Abstract:
A blade including a body has a front surface and a curved back cutting surface. The front surface has a mount angle relative to a material surface of a material facing the back cutting surface. The back cutting surface and the front surface define a blade angle. In response to at least one of the blade and the material surface being brought into cutting contact and moved relative to each other, a resulting portion of the material surface has a distressed appearance.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a cutting or abrasive tool (1) such as a bur or a file that is produced by ceramic injection moulding with specific profiles or teeth. The tool can be a bur or a file that is directly produced by this process with no need for an extra treatment. Such tools are easily and cheaply produced and can be single use tools. The defect line (2) at the mould split plane location may advantageously be used as part of the abrasive or cutting profile. The tool may be made from stabilised zirconium dioxide (Zr02), pure aluminium oxide (A1203) or a mixture of both. The cutting profile may include a face angle of about 5 degrees, a back angle of about 17 degrees and a gullet angle of 78 degrees (see figure 2).
Abstract:
A rotary file (10) includes a body (14) having first and second ends with an outer surface comprising at least one cutting edge, a shank (12) extending from the first end of the body (14) which is adapted to be mounted in a rotary tool and a pilot (IS) extending from the second end of the body (14), the pilot (16) defining an annular peripheral surface (22) with an arcuate cross-section.
Abstract:
A machine, method, and cutting tool comprises a cylindrical body; an annular bevel formed in an end of the cylindrical body forming a circular cutting edge at one of an outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical body and an inner circumferential surface of the cylindrical body; a plurality of grooves formed in one of the outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical body and the inner circumferential surface of the cylindrical body, the plurality of grooves creating a discontinuities in the circular cutting edge; wherein at least two adjacent grooves of the plurality of grooves are spaced about the cylindrical body at a pitch period of 5mm or less.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an instrument for machining workpices, comprising a tool (2) which can be connected to a drive by means of a shaft (1), whereby said tool (2) can be set into rotating or oscillating motion. The tool (2) is provided with abrasive elements. An area (4) of the shaft is also provided with abrasive elements.
