This invention relates to a method and composition for treatment of a hard surface. It particularly relates to a method and composition for treatment of a surface for imparting repellence of aqueous soils. It is an object to provide a hard surface cleaning composition providing soil and/or water repellence to a surface. It has been found that applying a composition comprising a trivalent metal ion, a saturated fatty acid salt and a silicone oil to a hard surface, renders said surface water repellent.

Cleansing bar compositions having high water content comprise: (a) at least about 15%, by weight of the composition, of water; (b) from about 40% to about 84%, by weight of the composition, of soap; (c) from about 1% to about 15%, by weight of the composition, of inorganic salt; and (d) at least about 1%, by weight of the composition, of humectant. The bar compositions further comprise a component selected from the group consisting of carbohydrate structurant, free fatty acid, synthetic surfactants, and mixtures thereof. The bar compositions preferably have a Water Activity ("Aw") of less than about 0.95, preferably less than about 0.90, and more preferably less than about 0.85. The bar compositions are preferably manufactured by a milling process.

A method of deodorizing and/or reducing malodor in carpet comprises the step of contacting the carpet with a deodorizing composition comprising an effective amount of odor control agent. In a preferred embodiment, the deodorizing composition is a concentrated composition and the method comprises diluting the concentrated deodorizing composition to form a diluted deodorizing composition and using the diluted deodorizing composition in combination with a carpet extractor to deodorize the carpet. An article of manufacture for deodorizing carpet comprises a container, a deodorizing composition in the container, and a set of instructions in association with the container to communicate the benefits of the present methods and the uses of the present compositions.

Provided is a personal cleansing composition with an antimicrobial effect. The personal cleansing composition is in the form of a bar soap and contains zinc pyrithione and a soap surfactant. When dispersed in an aqueous solution at 1 wt%, the personal cleansing composition is characterized by a pH value ranging that is higher than about 9.6 and lower than about 10.3. Also provided is a process for forming an antimicrobial bar soap.
