A process of laminating textiles for producing air-permeable or moisture permeable laminated textile materials involves generating a discontinuous layer of adhesive (2) with a precise pattern of voids by means of temporarily introducing sets of parallel yarns (3) or, alternatively, mesh-like webs in contact with an initially uniform layer of adhesive temporarily carried on a release-coated carrier (1). After the adhesive layer and the mesh-like web have been pushed into contact with a first fabric layer (4), the release-coated carrier is stripped away, along with the mesh-like web, from the first fabric layer. The adhesive layer remaining on the first fabric layer will exhibit a discontinuous pattern that is complementary to the mesh-like web pattern. Subsequently, a second fabric (5), or film, is bonded to the exposed adhesive surface on the first fabric to create a laminated material exhibiting air permeability or moisture permeability.

A method for preparing a cosmetic component is provided which includes applying a layer of a dry cosmetic ingredient between a pair of fibrous sheets obtained by electrospinning one or more polymeric materials at least one of which is capable of cold flow under pressure. Sufficient pressure is then applied to the layers of fibrous sheets to cause cold flow of at least some of the polymeric material such that at least parts of the fibrous sheets bond with each other and entrap the cosmetic ingredient in position between them and prevent it from migrating between the sheets during further processing or handling.

The particulates comprise at least 0.1-30 wt.% of the impregnated fiber and the particulates are embedded on the cuticle and within the lumen of the fiber. The fiber has an increased strength, micronaire value and rate of water absorption. Also provided is a system for surface treating cellulose sliver fibers. The system includes a vessel containing a moist paste which comprises at least one particulate material possessing one or more preselected desired properties, a thickening agent and water. The paste from the vessel is dispensed directly onto sliver fiber ribbon(s). A bore sonotrode generates ultrasonic waves which embed the particulate material(s) in the sliver fibers.

Processes for coating sewing thread using a radiation curable composition and the resultant coated sewing thread. Sewing thread is coated with a radiation curable composition, which exhibits a self-sustaining cure after exposure to radiation. The composition is applied using contact coating techniques to coat and impregnate the thread with resin. The coated thread is then exposed to radiation to cure the coating. Because the cure is self-sustaining, the composition more fully and completely reacts to form a coating with increased durability and reduced susceptibility to stripping or flaking during use in demanding industrial applications.
