An efficient, low cost method and apparatus for controlling fiber deposition in a fiber reinforced preform (12) is provided. In the method, a main screen (26) is placed in a tank (36) filled with liquid (44). The main screen (26) has a major surface (30), upright side walls (28) and a plurality of openings (32) formed therein. Reinforcing fibers (42) are added to the liquid (44) to create a slurry (45). The main screen (26) is raised through the slurry (45) to a level beneath the top of the slurry (45), thereby causing the reinforcing fibers (42) to be deposited on the main screen (26). A retainer screen (34) is inserted into the slurry (45) so that the reinforcing fibers (42) are sandwiched between the main screen (26) and the retainer screen (34). Both the main screen (26) and retainer screen (34) are raised out of the tank (36) effectively forming a preform (12) with minimal deformation. An alternative embodiment includes a bubbler zone control device (86) for mixing the slurry (45). The tank (36) is divided into separate areas or zones (88) whereby the supply of fluid (44) to each bubbler zone (88) is controlled. The bubbler zone controller (86) may be used to initiate or diminish a vortex in the slurry (45) as the screen (26) is being raised out of the tank (36). Another embodiment includes a fiber dispenser system (103) for adding fibers (42) to the slurry (45).

There is disclosed a process of manufacturing a fibreboard from a waste material, for example from a corrugated waste material, wherein the process comprises: refining in a range of 5 to 30 percent of the waste material into micro-fibrillated cellulose (MFC), using a mechanical micro- fibrillation process; pulping in a range of 70 to 95 percent of the waste material with water to obtain a waste pulp; dispersing the micro-fibrillated cellulose (MFC) into the waste pulp to obtain a micro-fibrillated waste pulp; moulding the micro-fibrillated waste pulp by applying a pressure to obtain a moulded fibreboard, using a moulding process; and drying the moulded fibreboard at a temperature to obtain the fibreboard with a density in a range of 500 to 1000 kilograms per cubic metre (kg/m 3 ), for example in a range of 650 to 850 kilograms per cubic metre (kg/m 3 ).

A method of producing a pressed board product of a predetermined thickness specification includes subjecting a predetermined mass per unit area of a precursor mixture to pressing in a press, at a predetermined pressing force with or without the application of heat. The precursor mixture comprises particulate material, an alkali metal silicate, polyvinyl alcohol, and a geopolymerisation promoter for promoting geopolymerisation of the alkali metal silicate. The method includes, prior to and/or during and/or after subjecting the precursor mixture to the pressing, allowing at least partial setting by geopolymerization of the alkali metal silicate.

The present invention relates generally to a panel (10) comprising a grid pattern (12) provided on both of its opposing surfaces. The grid pattern (12) includes a plurality of recesses such as (14) arranged in a predetermined configuration dictated generally by the structural requirements of the panel (10). The panel (10) is of an increased density at the recessed grid pattern (12). This is important in increasing the stiffness of the panel (10).

A method for edge-forming cellulose products in a forming mould system, and a forming mould system (S), where the forming mould system is adapted for forming the cellulose products from an air- formed cellulose blank structure (2). The forming mould system comprises a first mould part (3) and a second mould part (4) arranged for cooperating with each other. The first mould part comprises an edge-forming device (5) with a protruding element (5a) configured for compacting and separating fibres of the cellulose blank structure. The edge-forming device is movably arranged in relation to a base structure (3a) of the first mould part, and the edge-forming device is adapted for interacting with a pressure member (6) arranged in the base structure. The method comprises the steps: providing the air- formed cellulose blank structure, and arranging the cellulose blank structure between the first mould part and the second mould part; forming a compacted edge structure of the cellulose products by separating fibres of the cellulose blank structure with the protruding element, applying an edge-forming temperature onto the cellulose blank structure, and compacting the cellulose blank structure by applying an edge-forming pressure by means of the pressure member onto the cellulose blank structure between the protruding element and the second mould part.
