Abstract: The present invention provides apparatus (100, 200, 300) for cleaning an item. The apparatus comprises: a perforated member (103, 203, 303) for supporting an item to be cleaned; at least one upper nozzle (101a, 101b, 201a. 201b, 301) provided above the perforated member, directed in a downward direction, and for producing at least one first jet of fluid (104a, 104b, 204a, 204b, 304) to impinge upon the item when supported by the perforated member; and at least one lower nozzle (102, 202a, 202b, 302) provided beneath the perforated member, directed in an upward direction, and for producing at least one second jet of fluid (106, 206a, 206b, 306) to impinge upon the item when supported by the perforated member. The apparatus is configured such that when the at least one first jet and the at least one second jet are produced, the vertical component of a first jet force acting on the item to be cleaned from the at least one first jet is greater than the vertical component of a second jet force acting on the item to be cleaned from the at least one second jet.

Abstract: A staple cartridge assembly includes a cartridge body with a deck, a longitudinal slot defined in the deck, and staple cavities defined in the deck. The staple cartridge assembly includes staples removably stored in the staple cavities, wherein the staples are deployable from the staple cavities into tissue of a patient, and wherein the staples comprise substrates comprised of metal that degrades when exposed to a degradation source in the patient. The staple cartridge assembly includes an implantable adjunct, wherein the staples are configured to hold the implantable adjunct to the tissue, and wherein the implantable adjunct is configured to delay an initiation of the degradation of regions of the metal in contact with the implantable adjunct in the patient, and wherein the implantable adjunct is configured to modify a local environment surrounding the staples to control a degradation rate of the staples after the initial delay.

Abstract: A face mask having mechanical, chemical, and electrostatic barriers to the movement of a material into and out of a face mask are described herein. Various examples of the face mask described herein use electrostatic charges to capture and, in some examples, inactivate viruses, germs, fungi, or bacteria (or other material). The use of a biocidal agent combined with electrostatic charges provides an additional measure for capturing and inactivating at least a portion of pathogen(ic) microorganisms.

Abstract: Methods and devices for cleaning heads of tubular instruments, such as endoscopes, are disclosed. A cleaning apparatus can include a receiving block for receiving an instrument head. A clamp can be used to secure the tube of the tubular instrument while also establishing a watertight seal. A nozzle assembly underneath the receiving block can include a nozzle that directs a stream of fluid onto the instrument head. The nozzle assembly can be rotatable about an axis of rotation, and optionally slidable along the axis of rotation. Extent of rotation and sliding movement can be limited (e.g., via one or more stops). Through movement of the nozzle assembly, the stream of fluid can be directed into various openings and crevices of the instrument head, thus permitting a quick and easy way to thoroughly clean such instrument heads.

Es wird vorgeschlagen, dass mittels der Systemsteuerung (10) in einer Planungsroutine gemäß einer vorgegebenen Planungsvorschrift anhand der objektbezogenen Sensordaten, anhand von auf die Bearbeitungsumgebung (1) bezogenen Umgebungsparametern sowie anhand von Bearbeiterdaten des menschlichen Bearbeiters (3) der Behandlungsplan für das Objekt (7) festgelegt wird.
